Very enjoyable finding info on my kin! Did you by chance check on the James Kincaid/William Woods parcel? William Wood married James's & my ancestor David Greer Kincaid's sister Ruth. The description says the 1,800 acres lays about 3 or 4 miles below the mouth of Richland Creek on Cumberland River but since Lincoln County was still a large county, I am not sure where their land was located. I don't find Richland Creek on my maps however there is a Richland Creek Road in present day Knox County, KY a few miles east of the town of Gray but I don't see the Cumberland River nearby so still in the dark on the location. When in Madison and Mercer Counties, KY, we copied lots of land documents for James Kincaid but found few deeds where he sold the land. Perhaps the title did not turn out on some of them? We found the same for John Kincaid in same area. My curiosity is very high on the John Kinkaid who paid 8,000 pounds for 5,000 acres to the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1782 on Treasury Warrant No. 12157. Do any Kincaid listers know which John this is? His land was on the Ohio River in Mason County, KY. ----- Original Message ----- From: Barbara Van Hout To: Kincaid@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, August 15, 2008 9:53 AM Subject: Re: [KINCAID] New Kentucky land patents added Looking at the names and reading the actual documents in the old Kentucky patents, Thomas Kinkard was Thomas Kincaid, who had a warrant for land in Garrard County on the waters of Paint Lick . http://apps.sos.ky.gov/land/nonmilitary/patentseries/vaandokpatents/DisplayPrintableImage.aspx?DocDb=OLD%20KENTUCKY%20WARRANTS&DocTitle=OK%203399.0&Title=OK%203399.0&Description=KINKARD%2c+THOMAS&Page=3&ScaleFactor=1&CompressionFactor=20 Also the old Kentucky patents show 17 records for a James Kincaid. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barbara Van Hout" <dutchtreat@prodigy.net> To: <Kincaid@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, August 15, 2008 9:52 AM Subject: [KINCAID] New Kentucky land patents added > The Kentucky Secretary of State website has added images of more very > early land patents.
