Dear Larry, I'm working on it now. Hopefully I may have something to post later in the day. I think this Samuel Kincaid is from Group A, possibly from James Kinkead, coroner & recorder of Westmoreland County and perhaps associated with Andrew Kinkead, Derry Township, Westmoreland County, PA, son of George Kinkead. But I don't have a clear connection yet. Perhaps this is what Norman is trying to do. A few months ago I sent an email to Norman about someone I work with named Storey, who found out that his ancestors in Butler County had farms adjacent to to this same Samuel Kincaid's farm. Of course, I was curious if this Samuel Kincaid was related to anyone in Group C-2. The following addtional information may be of interest, because my colleague has information about a Storey-Kincaid connection in northern Scotland. He also knows which part of northern Ireland from which his ancestors migrated to PA and then Butler County, PA. I'm always suspicious that groups of families migrated together to specific areas to buy land, rather than just as unconnected families. Here's the additional information that he shared with me: _________________________________________________________________________________ The Storeys in western Pennsylvania. They (father Alexander Baird Storey and three sons, James, William & Robert) entered the country prior to the first census in 1790 because they appear in the roles of Chester County, PA. They settled briefly in Westmoreland County south of Pittsburgh, and then bought land northeast of Pittsburgh in Butler County in 1792. All four are buried in the Lower Bear Creek Cemetery in Fairview, PA. Several other details suggest that these Storeys may have come originally (before Belfast) from northern Scotland, rather than the Border area. *There is a known clan of Storey's associated with the Ogilvie and Kincaid clans in northern Scotland. * James' will (the one I'm descended from, who was the oldest of the three brothers and died of wounds sustained fighting the British in the War of 1812 on the Ohio-Pennsylvania border) lists his possessions at the time of his death in 1815. >From this website on the history of Butler County: http://www.rootsweb.com/~pabutler/1895/95x44.htm and also http://www.rootsweb.com/~pabutler/1883/83-40.htm FIRST SETTLERS: In 1794 Rudolph BARNHART came into this township and settled on a tract of land near Karns City, now known as the *KINKAID farm*. . . . Alexander STOREY, a native of Ireland, moved from Eastern Pennsylvania to Westmoreland County, and thence to Butler County. *Squire KINCAID*, a prominent figure among the pioneers, lived and died on a farm adjacent to the RIDDLE farm. *His son James* occupied the old homestead until his death; his widow and children moved West after the oil excitement commenced. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ Is there any way to find a descendent of this Samuel Kincaid (Butler County PA) to obtain a DNA profile? Or can anyone on the Kincaid list find this Kincaid in their own genealogy?
