Containing as above set forth 271 acres & 61 perches and allowance of land, originally surveyed by William Matthews, late D.S. on the 24th day of the 1st month 1771 for Archibald White. In pursuance of a warrant which was granted to Alexander McCandless (Poplar Quarter) bearing the date 6th of June 1749.... This warrant was filed before York County was formed August 17, 1749 and thus is listed in Lancaster County, PA warrants ****************** I found the above records for Alexander McCandless of interest ---Robert Kinkade of Hardin County served in the RW with John McCandless, who married Jane Mason in 1785 in Greenbrier County. Robert was a witness to John McCandless' RW service, records of John McCandless's pension file at footnote.com. John McCandless's wife Jane Mason was a daughter of William Mason of Greenbrier County. John and Jane named one of their sons Alexander. Their daughter Polly McCandless married Eber Tranor of Hardin County, who was a brother of Elizabeth and Sarah Tranor, wives of Robert Kinkade, Jr and George W Kinkade of Hardin County, DNA 5850 and 4588. Jane's sister Mary Burks was named in the RW pension file. Mary Mason was married to Nathaniel Burks, who may have been from the Burks family of Amherst County, VA.
