Dear Kincaid-listers, I think I have figured out the Cumberland County, PA militia lists, aided by the explanation at the following website: http://www.phmc.state.pa.us/bah/dam/MilitaryRevMilitiaInterface.htm There was a permanent billet battalion for each township where the list of classes were compiled and an active battalion to which officers and soldiers were attached when called to duty. The following timeline will hopefully better illustrate the Kincaids in the Cumberland County, PA Militia. There appears to be another James Kinkead with the William Kinkead in the 6th/4th Battalion from Hamilton Township. I have no idea which lineage these two men belong to.
