My email address will be used for 130404; as well as 15550, which needs to be updated to dieckhorst@q.com). The actual contributor is Harry Keith Kinkade, b. 1929. Keith told me that he has macular degeneration and that is why he no longer does genealogy. He did all the early James Woodburn Kinkade research in the 1960's and 70's. We have just resumed contact after an approximate 20 year lapse. I have talked to him about getting documentation on Keith's grandfather William. The state of Iowa refused to let me have the death record as I was not a direct descendant. It is amazing how some states don't care what my relationship, if any is, and others want only a direct descendant to get a record. Unfortunately, most of my Kinkades were in states that don't post every vital record online! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sue Liedtke" <seleaml@actionnet.net> To: <kincaid@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, August 23, 2008 7:42 AM Subject: Re: [KINCAID] Another son of 15550 line to participate > Margie is this kit #130404? > I will need to know who is contact and have permission to put the e-mail > address on the chart. > > We have had several new orders for tests in the last few days, at least > some > of which are long sought after lines. We see Margie's email has changed and thought this was a good time to remind Kincaid DNA participants to be sure and change their email address on their personal webpage with FTDNA when you change email address so that you will continue to receive notice of matches and etc. We look forward to Keith's results! Margie, I was able to trace this William Kinkade family back to Union County, Iowa, 1880-1930, >1860 & 1870 Hancock Co, IL>1850 Westmoreland Co, PA>1840 Greene Co, PA-- In the 1840 Greene County, PA census, there was a James Kincaid, JR. next to a William Kincaid, both a. 20-30 with wives a. 20-30. James had a son under a. 5. Do you know when James W. Kincaid married? The 1840 Greene Co, PA census shows a William Kincaid, Esq. family, --large family--with William a. 60-70 as the head. 1830 Greene County, PA shows a James Kincaid a. 40-50 with one male a.15-20 and one female a. 50-60. This younger male matches James W Kincaid's age, but more research is needed in Greene county, PA. The William Kincaid, Esq. of 1840 Greene County doesn't show up in 1830 in the Greene County census, according to ancestry.com's records. The 1820 and 1810 censuses for Bedford County, PA, Bethel Township, show a James Kincaid of the right age to be the father of James Kincaid, Jr of the 1840 Greene County census. In 1810 James didn't have a son, but in 1820 James had one son under age 10. The early census information for Pennsylvania would need records to prove everything and may be wrong on what I have found. Just sending this because it may suggest counties for more research. Rough Biography for Keith Kinkade's grandfather. Keith's DNA number is 130404 and the order was confirmed yesterday. Margie WILLIAM KINKADE was born on 28 May 1851 in Pennsylvania, the seventh of eight children of James Woodburn and Margaret Kuhns Kinkade. He was two months short of being three years old when his mother and infant brother died. His daughter Eva Mae wrote that her father only remembered his immediate family being orphaned at about nine years old and ushered out into the world to look out for himself. He turned out to be a fine Christian man but what a life! His father remarried and the family moved to Hancock County, Illinois. His first marriage was about 1878 to Emma White, who died in childbirth with her baby. Emma's parents are unknown; however, when she was 12 years old, she was living with the Charles Widger family in Fulton County, Illinois. In 1880 William married Clara Widger and they lived in Lincoln, Iowa. Clara was the daughter of Charles and Pheobe Morris Widger and was born on February 10, 1862. Census records conflict on her birthplace as either Illinois or Pennsylvania. They had two daughters (Amanda and Eva) and four sons (Elmer, Harvey, George and Frank). The family can be found in the 1885, 1895, 1900 and 1910 censuses in Douglas, Union County, Iowa. William was a farmer. Clara died in 1917 at the age of 55 years. William was 67 years old in the 1920 Union County Census. He was living with his third wife, Elizabeth, age 50. The couple lived next door to his son Harry Kinkade's family in Douglas Township. His obituary from the Creston Daily News was on the front page on Monday, June 1, 1925: William Kinkade Died At His Home Saturday. William Kinkade, a retired farmer, died at 9:30 Saturday morning at his home 211 South Myrtle street, after an illness of three weeks. He was 74 years of age and lived on a farm near Cromwell for many years before coming to Creston, to make his home. He is survived by his widow, and two daughters, Mrs. William Ours of Cromwell and Mrs. T. W. Drynan of Clyde Park, Mont., and four sons, E. E. and Harvey of Cromwell, George of Creston, and Frank of Chicago. The funeral will be held at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon at the home with Rev. Clyde Harris, pastor of the Congregational church, officiating and burial will take place in the Cromwell cemetery. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barbara Van Hout" <dutchtreat@prodigy.net> To: <Kincaid@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, August 23, 2008 1:26 PM Subject: Re: [KINCAID] Another son of 15550 line to participate > Margie, > > I was able to trace this William Kinkade family back to Union County, > Iowa, > 1880-1930, > >1860 & 1870 Hancock Co, IL>1850 Westmoreland Co, PA>1840 Greene Co, PA-- > > In the 1840 Greene County, PA census, there was a James > Kincaid, JR. next to a William Kincaid, both a. 20-30 with wives a. > 20-30. > James had a son under a. 5.
