    3. It would be really good if we could trace down a descendent of Thomas d 1751 Augusta Co. His proven son William/Agnes wrote his Augusta Co. will 1827 naming sons Robert (who had a son Guy Hamilton), William, John, Thomas, and Archibald. I suspect he would be A-1 but with C-2 Kincaids in the area during the same time frame there is always a possibility he belonged to that family. Guy Hamilton seems to have been Robert's only son. He is listed in 1850 as age 48 laborer and is a household with 30 other unrelated people so probably did not marry or have children. Archibald appears to be the Archibald who m Sarah Noland. Their only son, William, died at age 18 without children. Thomas m Sarah Gwinn d 1844 on the Jackson River. I know he had a son David who inherited his grandfather Gwin's Jackson River land. Sarah may be in the 1850 census with some of her children. William. Can't remember who we determined he was. John. Not sure who he is. It is possible that John b 1812 m Mary A about 1824 is from this line. This John would not be a son of William but could be a Grandson. He lived in Deerfield which is very near the land Thomas d 1851 bought on the Great Calfpasture. This John is the ancestor of Travis Kincaid who was trying to find his roots before his grandfather died in 2003. While the connection isn't proven we know that William/Agnes's John was around in 1812 as he took delivery that year for the land William/Agnes bought and seems to have a continued presence near Deerfield. Another possible son to Thomas d 1851 is Thomas the Blacksmith who m Isabella Kincaid, dau. of John of Bath. #1257 in A-1a is a probable descendent. Though not vetted this line claims descent from Archibald m Rachel Hicklin. Thomas the Blacksmith bought land from Rbt Gwinn adj. tract of William & Thomas Kincaid in 1772. This land was Great Calf Pasture tract 16. The land Thomas d 1851 was on which was sold to son William was tract 17. Your concern about the DNA sample from your line and the Clingan research have concerned me also. I found it strange that Bill's sample matches the Group C Kincaids. His Thomas Kinkead who married Hannah would have to come from a Group C line about 1745. I would look to Virginia or perhaps the Thomas Kincaid of Lancaster County, PA, later of Augusta County, VA, died in 1751. But that still does not capture your Clingan connection. I'll keep my eyes open for anything that may provide a connection. Is that still the situation? As you probably know, I've never been fully satisfied with the Clingan research linked to my Thomas Kincaid of Anderson County, Tenn.. Secondly, I'm not satisfied that our representative DNA sample has a proven line--sorry Bill, it's not your fault. However, because our sample does fall in nicely with Group C, the same as Alice's line, there seems to be something there worth pursuing. So if you can, keep your eyes peeled for anything in this regard.
