    3. Hamilton Bann Township, (then York County, PA) now Adams County, PA, borders Franklin County, PA and is closer to Hamilton Township, Franklin County and Chambersburg than it is to Carlisle.  Group C Kincaids inhabit Hamilton Township, Franklin County.  Michael Kinkead and Robert Kinkead inhabit Hamilton Bann Township.  My inclination for their possible DNA would be group A, since I believe Michael Kinkead and Robert Kinkead came from West Caln and would more likely provide a Group A sample.  I could be wrong, they could be Group C.  But so far no Group C Kinkead has traced back to Chester County, PA.  The Clingans do trace back to Chester County, PA.  Just some food for genealogical thought. 3. Perhaps following the Patton family who were related to Edward Clingan would yield useful information. Here is a posting by Dr. David Agricola, researcher of the Pattons families in the U.S., about the Patton family of Hamilton Bann Township. Edward Clingan's first wife, before he married Jennet Kincaid, was Elizabeth Patton, daughter of a John Patton. It appears that the Patton-McCracken-Adams- Clingan families of Hamiltonbann Twp., York Co intermarried extensively and moved to the same area of Washington Co Tenn in the 1780's. http://my.stratos.net/~dvagricola/tenn.51.html (Washington Co, TN in the 1780's was probably considered to be part of North Carolina.) *********** Capt. Thomas Clingan's Company, Aug through Oct 1782. Sgt Anthony PATTON. [Anthony was born about 1759, brother to John Patton Jr, both sons of John Patton Sr of Hamiltonbann Twp. John Jr married Elizabeth Clingan, sister to Thomas Clingan. Both John and Anthony P moved to Washington Co Tenn.] http://genforum.genealogy.com/cgi-bin/pageload.cgi?Clingan::patton::4605.html "I'm researching the EDWARD CLINGAN family, born 1750 in PA, married ELIZABETH PATTON in 1774. Their daughter, ELIZABETH CLINGAN married JAMES COWAN in Meigs County Tenn c 1800.
