Message sent on June 17, 2008 to the Kincaid message board at rootsweb.com: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.kincaid/952/mb.ashx Rufus Morgan Kincaid died in 1915 in Jackson County, MO according to the death certificate. Much speculation has been spread across the net over the years, about the maiden name of Ruth, wife of Clingan Kincaid, son of Thomas Kincaid and Hannah Clingan. Perhaps this will help add a little more certainty to the theory that her name was Green. I found the Missouri Death Certificate my GGG Grandfather, Rufus Morgan Kincaid, on the Secretary of State's database. I am including the link to this site below. If you pull the document, print it, you will see, in beautiful, clear script, that Rufus's mother was Ruth Green. The informant for Rufus's certificate was his son, Thomas A Kincaid. Keep in mind that not everything jibes with all the data out there--Rufus is reportedly born in Knox County, TN on the certificate while it seems rather that he was born in Anderson County. Further, Thomas A Kincaid got his own grandfather's name correct--Clingan--tho his birthplace is listed as Tennessee.
