K-listers whose plans for a stop on the auld sod this summer have been stifled by gas prces and currency exchange rates may be somewhat sated in their desire for a taste of same in the popular soft drink IRN-BRU, (banned by the Clinton FDA for containing red dye and not pardoned by Bush . . . yet) by a Coca-Cola product available in some markets called "FRESCA Black Cherry Citrus." The similarity in taste is amazing. It is sugar-free but you can always add a Mary-Poppins spoonful if you like. I for one shall only be happy when I can have my diet IRN-BRU without having to go there and get it (or pay _through the nose_ for a Barr-approved, American imitation). Like most Kincaid ilk, I HAVE the appropriate brain bandwidth to drink B and taste A. Thank the good Lord that Tennent's is available in high-end beer stores here, albeit imported and pasteurized. (BTW, when in Glasgow, take the brewery tour!!!) I wonder whether County Tyrone in N.I. has a native brew that we six-generation-removed expats could patronize? Dick Kinkead 2562
