The John Kincaid in this unit could also be a Group C Kincaid from the Hamilton Township, Cumberland County, PA Kincaids: 1776 John Kinkead, [16596] freeman, taxed in Hamilton Township, Cumberland County, PA. Cumberland County Historical Society, Carlisle, PA 1780 John Kinkaid, [16596] freeman, taxed in Hamilton Township, Cumberland County, PA. Pennsylvania Archives, s. 3, v. 20, p. 316. 1781 John Kinkade, private, in 6th Class, 2nd Company, 4th Battalion, Cumberland County, PA Militia, Capt. Samuel Patton’s Company, May 12, 1781. Pennsylvania Archives, s.. 3, v. 23, p. 744; s. 5, v. 6, p. 287. They, at that time, would have referred to themselves as cousin regardless of what DNA shows now. John Kincaid, artificer, was assigned to each of these officers during his enlistment period most likley in Carlisle. This adds even more circumstanial evidence that he is my John Kinkead, son of George Kinkead of Toboyne Township, Cumberland County, PA and that the John Kinkead, private in William Wilson's Company is his cousin. I thought at first the John Kincaid, private, in Capt. William Wilson's Company, 1st Pennsylvania Regiment was my John Kincaid, since his brother Andrew is a corporal in the same company. But it appears I have it reversed. I'll think on't some more. The last of the upgrade to 67 markers has been returned for 119921. He matches the Apparent Ancestral Values for Group A Kincaids at all but two markers. He has the 12 at marker 26 (DYS 460) which places him in set 1b and what appears to be a late mutation (no one else has it) to 15 from the AAV 16 at marker 13 (DYS 458). Charles believes he is a descendent of John of Sadsbury and is working on a vetting post. I noticed that there were several typos in the results section for this line on the last chart I sent to Alice so will be sending an updated chart to Alice soon. As usual if she is available she updates the chart almost immediately, however, there may be a delay if she is away from her computor. Alice is doing a tremendous service for the Kincaid project by hosting the chart. Thank you. Sue Liedtke
