Dear Kincaid-listers, many years ago in a discussion about the probable father of Andrew and Archibald Kinkead there was the subject of a Widow Kinkead taxed in Lower Tryone Township, Cumberland County, PA in 1763.  Who was she if Archibald and Andrew's mother, Mary appears in 1767?  In 2006 I went to the Pennsylvania State Archives to do research on counties that I had not researched:Butler and York.  But there was a micorfilm roll of taxables for Cumberland County, PA.  And I had this Samueal Kinkead in Middleton Township, Cumberland County, PA for 1762 and I just wanted to confirm that he was there and that I hadn't made a mistake.  Here are the taxables for Cumberland County, PA in 1762: 1762 John Kinkead, [93625] merchant of Carlisle, taxed in Middleton Township, Cumberland County, PA for         150 warranted acres.   Cumberland County Tax Record Roll 1399, Pennsylvania State Archives. 1762 James Kinkead [1259] taxed in Middleton Township, Cumberland County, PA. Is the 1767 Mary whom you refer to the same Mary who bought land in Bedford County? The Mary who was taxed in Bedford County had a Robert named with her in one of the records. There were a group of families in Friend's Cove of Bedford County, PA who went to Washington County, PA and then on to Hardin County, KY.
