If a timeline etc. is  in a rich text format, Rootsweb always and automatically converts it to plain  text. This results in much of what we send looking like gobbledy gook. AOL  automatically defaults mail composition to html, and if I want to send something relatively fancy, I have to right click my mouse and then click on "Compose as  plain text". I have no clue how other servers operate, but if you use plain text  then you can fix it up so it is in a presentable or readable format. And then  Rootsweb will pass it on just as you send it.
