My great uncle James A. Ashe, married Elizabeth Kincaid b. 26 Nov 1879 in Gaston Co.,NC. Her father was Joseph Marcus Kincaid b. 16 Apr 1858 in Gaston Co. Her mother was Mary "Molly" Louise Merritt b. ? d. by 1893? (she died at age 37) Joseph Marcus Kincaid's father was John R. Kincaid (may have been born in York, SC) and mother was Susan Jones. The children by Mary Merritt were Elizabeth, Edna Earl(?) b. 1883, and Joseph M. Jr. b. 1892 Children by Amelia (2nd wife) were Pearl b. 1895, John W. b.ca 1897, Hattie M. b. ca 1904 Step children were Charlie Hendrick b. ca 1892, Elizabeth Hendrick b. 1894, and George Hendrick b. 1896.
