May 8, 1767.  2.  58 acres, (less a part.sold off, size not yet ascertained)  in Tyrone Township, property survey order Sept. 1, 1766, No. 1075 for John Kinkead; surveyed by John Armstrong, Esq.  Sept. 2, 1767.  Kinkead by will dated August 2, 1772 left tracts 1 & 2 as that plantation in Sherman’s Valley to his son, Thomas Kinkead, who then lived thereon.  The two tracts together contained an improvement which.James Armstrong granted March 30, 1765 to William Brady of Hopewell Township, who granted on March 30, 1765 to.decedant.  Thomas Kinkead granted the eastern end of the tract to George Shaw, shoemaker of York County, then granted the.remainder of these 2 tracts to David Dunseath as 192 acres on Oct. 3, 1777.  Cumberland County Historical Society, Carlisle, PA.  1779       Thomas Kinkead [93625] & wife, Hannah, of Tyrone Township, Cumberland County, PA, sold to James Pollack of Carlisle, tavernkeeper, for the sum of 200 pounds, the lot of ground and houses on lot 86 of Carlisle.               This indenture made the ninth day of January in the third year of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania the third year of the Independency of the United States of America and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy nine Between Thomas Kinkaid of Tyrone Township in the County of Cumberland and State of Pennsylvania, Yeoman, and Hannah his wife of the one part, James Pollock of the Town of Carlisle in the County afs., Tavernkeeper, of the other Part, Whereas John Kinkead, late of theTown of Carlisle afs., Shopkeeper dec. in his lifetime was seized and Possessed of the following described lot of ground which is situate, lying and being on the South side of Louther Street and on the East side of Pitt Street in the Town of Carlisle aforesaid and is known on a general plan of the said Town by its Number (86) bounded Northward by Louther Street afs. Westward by Pitt Street afs. Southward by a Twenty foot Alley and Eastward by a Lot of Ground known on a general plan of the said Town by the Number (94) and containing in Breadth Eastward and Westward on Louther Street sixty feet and in length on Pitt Street afs. To a Twenty foot Alley two hundred and forty feet; and on the said Lot was erected a dwelling house agreeable to the Terms and Conditions  of taking up Lots and of settling the said Town, fixed appointed and made Publick by the Honourable the Proprietaries of Pennsylvania or by their Agent, or Agents, by them lawfully appointed for that purpose.  And whereas the afs. John Kinkead having been seized and Possessed of the afs. Messuage Tenement and Lot of Ground, so as aforesaid afterwards to wit on the second day of August which was in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy two made and Published his testament and last Will in writing and therein and thereby did devise (Inter Alia) in the following words that is to say “Item I will devise and bequeath to my son Thomas that Plantation in Shermans Valley whereon He now lives containing two surveys and also my House and Lot in Carlisle on the Corner of an Alley and fronting on Louther Street/Subject to the rents and Profits thereof herein before and after ? willed and bequeathed to him his heirs and assigns forever”  As by the said Will duly proved and remaining in the Registers Office in Carlisle may appear.  Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the afs. Thomas Kinkead (one of the sons and devisees under the Testament and last Will of the aforesaid John Kinkead Deceased being) and Hannah his Wife for and in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred Pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania to them in hand paid by the afs. James Pollok before the sealing and Delivery of these Presents the Receipt whereof the afs. Thomas Kinkead doth hereby Acknowledge and whereof doth aquit and forever discharge the aforesaid James Pollock his heirs Exrs. Admrs. And Assigns have granted, bargained, sold, released, and confirmed, and by these Presents do grant, bargain, sell, release and confirm, unto the afs. James Pollock and to his heirs and assigns all that the herein described Lot of Ground Number (86) as the same is herein before set forth and described bounded and limited as afors. with all and singular the Houses Buildings, gardens, yards, fences, streets, lanes, lights, easements, commodities, profits, advantages, improvements, hereditaments and Appurtenances whatsoever to the afs. Lot of ground belonging or in any wise appertaining and lying and being within the bounds and limits thereof And the reversions and Reversion, remainder of the Premisses Rents Houses and Profits thereof from and after the first day of October last before the Day of the Date hereof And all the Estate, Rights, Title, Interest, Property use, Possession, Claim, and Demand whatsoever of him the afs. Thomas Kinkead and Hannah his wife of in and to the same and every part and parcel thereof   To have and to hold the afs. Messuage Tenement and Lot of Ground hereby granted and mentioned or intended so to be and every Part and Parcel thereof with the Appurtenances unto the afs. James Pollock his heirs and Assigns to the only use and Purpose of the afs. James Pollock his heirs and Assigns forever, Subject to the payments of the ground rent now due and hereinafter to become due for the same to the honourable the Proprietaries of Pennsylvania their heirs and successors and the afs. Thomas Kinkead for himself his heirs exors and admin. And for every of them doth covenant promise grant and agree to and with the aforesaid James Pollock his heirs and assigns from and against him the afs.  Thomas Kinkead and his heirs and against all and every other Persons and Person whatsoever Lawfully claiming or that shall or may here after lawfully claim the same, or any part or Parcel thereof by from or under him them or any of them shall and will Warrant and forever defend by these Presents In witness whereof  the afs. Parties to these presents have interchangeably set their hands and affixed their seals, Dated the day and year first above written, sealed and Delivered in the presence of Charles Cooper, Geo.
