Found in the 1840 census of Hamilton Co., TN, was Thomas Kincaid Clingan (age 40/49), grandson of Thomas Kincaid and Hannah Clingan. Found there also was William Cincade (age 40/49), with two males 10/14, one female under 5, 2 females 5/9, one female 20/29, and one female 30/39. No William Cincade/Kincaid with the proper family distribution was found in 1850 TN, so it is not known in which state he was born. The father of this William Cincaid must have been born about 1770 or before. Does anyone have information on a William Kincaid in 1840 Hamilton Co, TN, or on any Kincaid who left a will after 1790 in which a son William was named? It is of some interest that a William Kincaid was a buyer at the estate sale of William Clingan (uncle of Hannah Clingan) in 1790 West Caln Township of Chester Co.
