    1. Re: [KINCAID] vetting ????????
    2. Below is the link to the Wikipedia definition of vetting. The word vetting is a whole lot shorter than always saying doing an examination of the paperwork and sources to see if someone really can claim a certain person as an ancestor. Without the vetting process, we get all those phony lineages we see online. The term vetting is very much being used in the news these days. People are currently wondering what happened to the vetting process on some of Obama's cabinet choices. Those choices were vetted by a committee of people asking questions etc., but unfortunately some critical questions must not have been asked. Bottom line is vetting is English and on many of the Lists I belong to, it's always used. It's a term for genealogy which becomes familiar the longer you are in genealogy. Before DNA I'd never heard the term but now I do know what it is. _http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vetting_ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vetting) Ruth Cherecwich In a message dated 2/9/2009 7:39:29 P.M. I'mnot sure what you mean when you say vetting was by Leslie Bob, sure glad you asked, been wondering myself what the heck is this 'vetting' all about? I've been the admin since 2002 for our paternal dna project also member of ISOGG and on the ISOGG admin yahoo group & the DNA yahoo group, and never NOT ONCE ever heard this used and there are some high class admin way smart ones there. It sounds really weird to me. why not just say whatever it is in plain ole english! I looked in my dictionary and it is not in there and can't find it on the FTdna site either. Never heard any of the FTdna folks use it either in all these years, must be something new come along ???? I sure am not going to use it on our dna list, the folks would think I gone bonkers I think me think.
