My brother, Doyle E. Kincaid (#130629), recently joined the DNA project and the results show that our family is in Group A-2b. I have been at an impasse at my great grandfather, Thomas McDowell Kincaid who was born in KY in 1811. However, with the DNA results Barbara & Sue believe he has to be the grandson of either Archibald or Andrew Kincaid who married the Townsley sisters. >From recent research and info it seems that Thomas McDowell's father probably was ??? Kincaid who died before 1824. This unknown Kincaid married Margaret ???? (b. PA) probably @ 1810. They had three known children: Thomas McDowell b. 1811 in KY, Nancy b. 1816 in KY and Archibald Townsley Kincaid b. 1818 in Ohio. Margaret ??? Kincaid married Robert Bradshaw in 1824 in Nicholas Co. KY. Robert probably died before 1830 when Margaret shows up in the Morgan Co., IN census as a widow with 1 male, under 5 (probably Nelson Bradshaw), 1 male 10-15 (probably Archibald Kincaid, age 12). Thomas married Martha Ann McNabb (b. Ky 1916) in Morgan Co., IN on 18 Aug 1836. They are in the Clay Co., IN census in 1840. Margaret ??? Kincaid Bradshaw shows up in the 1840 census in Clay Co., IN and later in the 1850 census living with son, Archibald Kincaid and his wife Sarah ??? in Washington Twn, Clay Co., IN. Nelson Bradshaw is living in the same household. Thomas and Martha (my grgrandparents) spent the remainder of their lives in Washington Twn, Clay Co., IN. They named their first son, Samuel and their second son, James Edgar, after Martha's father, James Edgar McNabb. The McNabbs moved from Montgomery Co., KY to Morgan Co., IN in 1835. Any help anyone can provide which might connect my Thomas to Archibald or Andrew Kincaid who married the Townsley sisters would be very much appreciated. I have info on Thomas and Martha's family down to present day. I am willing to share anything that I have. Marcella Kincaid Campbell
#130629 is vetted to Thomas McDowell/Martha McNabb. Circumstantial evidence as well as the DNA points to a possible connection to Archibald or Andrew. Marcella has done a good job in relating the circumstantial evidence leading back to KY but I did want to remind everyone that her proof back to Thomas McDowell is conclusive.
