Hi Richard, I am one of the cousins of the Gartcow Kincaids. My ggg grandfather Dr. Peter Kincaid came to the U.S. between 1814 and 1818. His father James Kincaid was buried at Gartcows, he was the grandson of James Kincaid and Elizabeth Crawford. I would love to exchange info with you. Further to my previous comments about Peter Kincaid, son of James Kincaid and Elizabeth Crawford, I've since noted a sasine registered in 1751 which records the children of James and Elizabeth as James, John, Margaret, Elisabeth and Helen Kincaid. Their younger children: Jean, William, Janet and Peter are not mentioned. I am not sure of the date of this sasine. It may have been before the birth of the younger children. On the other hand, it also indicates that the youngest children did not survive if the sasine was circa 1751. Again I caution about jumping on Peter as being the Patrick Kincaid of Maine simply because of the name and suggested year of birth of 1743 for Patrick Kincaid of Maine. It has also been reminded since that one descendant of Patrick Kincaid of Maine has been tested for the DNA project and that person does not match Group A Kincaids which a tested descendant of the Gartcows Kincaids belongs. Another descendant of Patrick has to be found to DNA match the Gartcows results before one can feel any confidence that the 1743 Peter was to become Patrick Kincaid of Maine.
