    3. I can appreciate your eagerness but I still see this as quite speculative. I can't state that this 1743 Peter survived beyond childhood. I just have the baptism reference. To put things in perspective we also have a Patrick Kincaid, son of John Kincaid and Jean Melvil, who was baptized in Bo'Ness Parish, West Lothian on 19 April 1741. This is still within a reasonable timeframe of a 1743 date and Bo'Ness was a bit closer to Edinburgh. However, I also do not have anything to suggest this Patrick survived to adulthood. Falkirk is about half the distance between Edinburgh and Glasgow but more to the nortwest. You can use Google maps to see the lay of the land. The following is a direct link. Hopefully it works with Rootsweb. http://maps.google.ca/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=falkirk&sll=49.891235,-97.15369&sspn=27.839907,56.601563&ie=UTF8&ll=56.012202,-3.794403&spn=0.37617,0.884399&z=10 One problem is that both Falkirk and Stirling were well know (given famous battles there). You would think a person would say they were from Falkirk or Stirling rather than Edinburgh. Again I would concentrate more on looking at possible relations for your Patrick in Maine (ie. neighbours, witnesses to legal records, etc.). I've learned that it is better to work from the known. Best wishes! Peter ----- Original Message ----- From: Richard B. Lake III, Esq. I am so happy that you have given me this information. It was very helpful. Does anyone, including you, have a family tree for these James Kincaid and Elizabeth Crawford? This is the first break in that family line of ours in over 50 years! Thank you, thank you, thank you. Now, I know that this info is only speculation, but it sure is darn close, and a very probable possibility. Also, where is STIRLING? Is it near Edinburgh? Thank you. Take care. Richard B.
