    3. Morning Joan, The letters from the Consul in Panama to Margaret were sent to Jean Harris by A D Kincaid/Kinkead. I will scan the 4 pages and email to you. The other info Jean sent was mostly from Mildred Sutton that you likely know since she was the editor of the Kinkead newsletter for several years. Jean's line of descent is David & Winifred, Joseph, Short David, Williams, Anderson, William Anderson who was her grandfather. Her mother was a Kinkead. Joseph was one of the first settlers in Hawkins County and his descendants stayed there until William Anderson Kinkead moved to Scott Co. VA Jean's phone is 423 245-5760 3209 Memorial Blvd, Kingsport, TN 37664 We have found obits, marriage licenses, birth and death certificates to fairly well document back to Short David. We are hoping to get a copy of the deed where Short David sells the 200 acres at Hunters Ford. Since his grandfather David willed the land to him stating Joseph's son David, this deed will prove both Short David and Joseph to David/Winifred. The John Kincaid who died on the ship was a grandson of Burroughs Kinkead, Winifred and David's second son. They were originally from this area in Tennessee. John's father was Long David Kinkead (he spelled his name as Kinkead but his children started spelling it as Kincaid), who moved to this area in the late 1770's and died in Hawkins County, TN, in 1829. Would love to contact the descendant. Thanks. The Consul's letter said John boarded ship at San Francisco and had placed 19 & 7/8 ounces of gold dust in safekeeping with the Captain. Margaret filed Letters of Administration for John's estate. > > If anyone on the Kincaid List wants copies of the 4 pages notify my privately and I will send you a copy. > > Don > To see the Kincaid of all spellings DNA chart in Excel: > http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~adgedge/Research/April%202004/Kincaid%20%20DNA.xls > > To join the DNA project, go to: > www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Kincaid&Code=J21027 > > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message > > To see the Kincaid of all spellings DNA chart in Excel: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~adgedge/Research/April%202004/Kincaid%20%20DNA.xls To join the DNA project, go to: www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Kincaid&Code=J21027 ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
