    1. [KINCAID] Charles Kinkead of Strabane and Jamaica?
    2. Peter A. Kincaid
    3. I have located some new tidbits on Charles Kinkead that makes me wonder if there were two contemporary Charles Kinkeads in Strabane; one a merchant and the other a watchmaker. Hard to tell for certain. Regardless, a Charles Kinkead went to the Caribbean from Northern Ireland. I found a contemporary Charles Kinkead in Jamaica. This could be the Strabane merchant as he traded in items from Jamaica so might have travelled back and forth until he failed in Strabane in 1769. On the other hand the Jamaican Charles could be a cousin of Charles of Strabane and could be the source for some American Kinkeads. The Jamaican records are: Charles Kinkead and Mary Newton Jarrett were married in Hanover, Jamaica on 17 July 1762 [FamilySearch. Caribbean Marriages, 1591-1905]. Mary would appear to have been of the wealthy Jamaican family of Nicholas Jarrett who married Sarah Newton. It would appear that this Charles also had illegitimate children: Mary Kinkead, age 12 years, illegitimate child of Charles Kinkead by Sarah Witter, was baptized in April 1768 in St. Elizabeth Parish [St. Elizabeth Parish Register I & II, 1707-1825. Volme I, p. 29]. Little Kinkead, age 9 years, illegitimate child of Charles Kinkead by Sarah Witter, was baptized in April 1768 in St. Elizabeth Parish [St. Elizabeth Parish Register I & II, 1707-1825. Volme I, p. 29]. Millie Kinkead, age about 9 years, illegitimate child of Charles Kinkead by Sarah Witter, was baptized in April 1768 in St. Elizabeth Parish [St. Elizabeth Parish Register I & II, 1707-1825. Volme I, p. 29]. Please let me know if you find anything that may relate to the Charles Kinkead of Jamaica. Best wishes! Peter
