George Kinkead was more likely the George Kinkead shortly thereafter having children baptized in Ballintra, Drumholm Parish, County Donegal. I think that one needs to present some sort of paper linkage back to County Donegal, before one can say that any of these people might be later found in America. It seems to me that in previous discussions, the only one suggested to have American connections was the John Kinkead who married Elizabeth McIlwaine. This was because of Kinkead and McElwain connections on the Calfpasture/Cowpasture. The early tax lists of Chester County, PA indicate that there were least two Robert Kinkeads. There was a widow Mary Kinkead who owned land in Bedford County, PA. Robert Kinkade/Mary Bowman,b. 1742-Ireland- d.1832-Hardin County, KY. may have been the son of one of the Roberts who left records in Chester County. Was Isabella Fausset (George Kinkead) related to the Benjamin Faucett family of Bath County, Virginia? Barbara From: Utahn1@aol.com Subject: [KINCAID] Marriages for Raphoe Diocese in Donegal, Ireland Date: Thu, 15 Nov 2012 23:37:26 -0500 (EST) Hi All, I was doing some research on McCreery/McCreary/McCrary at the library. The marriage license bonds for the diocese of Raphoe, which includes the whole county of Donegal consisting of 34 parishes, were destroyed in a fire in 1922. An index to the non-existent records survives. I checked for Kincaid names and found the following: Kinkead, George and Isabella Fausset married 1734 Kinkead, John and Elizabeth McIlwaine married 1734 Kinkead, Robert and Mary Hutchinson alias Walker married 1738 Ruth Cherecwich For complete information about the Kincaid of all spellings DNA project, including a chart, lineages, and how to participate, go to: www.kincaiddna.org ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to KINCAID-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
I believe the discussion on John & Elizabeth McIlwaine speculated that he was John the Weaver. The 1734 marriage date would be about right. In 1763 James Lockridge sold to Moses McElvan 1/4th of P&L's track 17 on the Great Calf Pasture. Another 1/4th of tract 17 was sold by court order in 1753 to William Kincaid, son of Thomas d 1750 and Margaret Lockhart. Thomas Kincaid, blacksmith (whom we believe was brother to the above Wm) ends up with the land Moses bought. The other 1/2 of tract 17 lies next to the land John the Weaver bought from John the Clerk. Connecting Moses to Elizabeth of Raphoe Parrish may provide some justification for the speculation. I have not gone through Chalkley for McIlwaine/McElvan references as the name does not appear signifcant in connection with those surnames I did pull. It might be interesting to find out if McIlwaine researchers have done any substantive research shedding light on Augusta Co. and Raphoe Parrish families. Rev. John Gwynn of Lifford, County Donegal, married a McElwaine...See paragraphs below. Why is it believed that Rev. Joseph Kincaid was born in County Donegal if the Baronscourt Kincaids were in the County Tyrone records at that time? http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/KINCAID/2007-05/1179707901 "A 1706 petition from Newcastle, Delaware, to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, for instance, noted that "the greatest number of us born and educated in Ireland under the ministry of Mr. William Traill presbiterian minister formerly at liford" i.e. Lifford, Co. Donegal "setled with our families at Newcastle and about it." The petitioners were Ninian Dunlap, John Stall(?), James Wallace, Matthew Wallace, David Miller, John Garner, Robert Walis, Andrew Miller, William Wallace, Morgan Pattan, Abraham Emott, Adam(?) Wallis, John Bolard, Thomas Wallace, Joseph Hook(?), James Wallis, Cornelius(?) Cooke, David Wallis, Thomas Southerland, and John Emott. [These are real signatures and I deciphered them as best I could.] Since the Rev. William Traill was imprisoned (as a religious dissenter at the order of the Bishop of Raphoe) in 1681 and came to Maryland a year or two later, the greater number of the signers must have been in his Lifford congregation before then. The original is in the Scottish Record Office CH 1/2/28 fol. 4 and a photostatic copy in the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland T3762." I should note for you that the Rev. Joseph Kincaid was born near Lifford, County Donegal. Rev. John Gwynn was Curate of Lifford in the early 1700s. He married a McElwaine." http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/KINCAID/2002-03/1015108961 Barbara -----Original Message----- From: Sue Liedtke Sent: Saturday, November 17, 2012 9:05 AM To: kincaid@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [KINCAID] Marriages for Raphoe Diocese in Donegal, Ireland I believe the discussion on John & Elizabeth McIlwaine speculated that he was John the Weaver.
