    1. [KINCAID] Kincaids in North Carolina 1860 and 1870 Censuses Comparison

    3. Dear Kincaid listers, I have just uploaded Kincaids in the North Carolina 1860 and 1870 Censuses, A Comparison. The number of Kincaids in the 1870 Census appeared to be a manageable number to get done today. So I finished extracting the Kincaids from the 1870 Census. The result was surprising. Unless I missed some Kincaids of various spellings there are roughly the same number of Kincaids listed as white in the 1870 Census as there were in 1860. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~kincaide/Kincaid%20Research/Kincaid%20Temporary%20File/kincaids%20in%20north%20carolina%201860-1870%20census.htm I have placed this file in the Temporary File http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~kincaide/Kincaid%20Research/Kincaid%20Temporary%20File/ http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~kincaide/Kincaid%20Research/ Sincerely Norman Kincaide

    2. Very interesting Norman.   You show, below, Lincoln County 1860David Kincade, [102911] age 53, born NC, farmer, Lincolnton, Lincoln County, NC, p. 101, image 201, family 456. 1860Winnie Kincade, age 50, born NC, Lincolnton, Lincoln County, NC. 1860David Kincade, [2563] age 89, born NC, farmer, Cottage Home, Lincoln County, NC, p. 108, image 214, family 554. 1860George W. Kincade, [2563] age 49, born NC, farmer, Cottage Home, Lincoln County, NC, p. 108, image 214, family 556.   David Kincade, family 554, was the half uncle of David, family 456.  George, family 556, was the son of David, family 554.  Court records shows that Cephas son of David, family 456, signed authority of settling is father's estate over to George due to the fact that Cephas was not living in the area.  These families all lived very near each other, if not next door, in the area where John the Patriach bought his land and eventually gave acreage to each of his sons.  David, family 554, was one of his sons with wife Nancy Nixon.   One other item:  Even though the 1870 census shows Winnie "living with her daughter", it is an error on the part of the census taker.  She is shown living with the Peter and Elizabeth Wingate family and Elizabeth was her cousin and sister of David's, family 456, first wife Bathsheba.   If you look at the census it shows Winnie's age as 60 or 64 and Elizabeth is 62.    Sharon Kisor ________________________________ From: Norman Kincaide <norman.kincaide@yahoo.com> To: "kincaid@rootsweb.com" <kincaid@rootsweb.com> Sent: Mon, September 3, 2012 11:48:09 AM Subject: [KINCAID] Kincaids in North Carolina 1860 and 1870 Censuses Comparison Dear Kincaid listers, I have just uploaded Kincaids in the North Carolina 1860 and 1870 Censuses, A Comparison. 3. Norman you are doing a great service to Kincaids with your extracting of the records you posted. This is a great effort. We are fortunate that you have the time, and health to do this.
