    1. [KINCAID] William/Hannah, son of John of Bath?

    3. In order to prove this hypothesis would be a deed from William & Hannah or their heirs selling the 332a on Eagle Creek William was bequeathed in John of Bath's will. Such a deed has so far eluded detection. Dennis House has uncovered some Fayette Co. KY deeds concerning this land Fayette Co. Ky is mentioned in the will and is the Co. where a sale to John Kincaid of 664.5 a on Eagle Creek is recorded in 1783 (DB2-84). This purchase is a bit confusing given the patent date below. Perhaps this is a survey date rather than a purchase?? Looking at the deed in its entirety would be a help in understanding. On 10/10/1796 John appointed his trusty friend, Andrew Kincaid of Bourbon Co. KY his lawful attorney, who on 10/12/1796 conveyed 1/2 the track to John Clark, who had located the land by virtue of warrants furnished him by John Kincaid. This was acknowledged in Bath Co. VA on the above date and recorded in Fayette Co. KY 11/18/1797. On 11/18/1797 John Kincaid of Bath Co. VA sold 1/2a, part of 664 1/2a in Scott Co. KY on the waters of Eagle Creek, beginning on the east bank of a fork called Masterson's Creek, entered in the name of John Kincaid and paid by John Clarke...land granted to Kincaid by patent May 16, 1797. signed Andrew Kincaid, attorney for John Kincaid. Scott Co. from Woodford Co. 1792, Woodford from Fayette 1789. Owen Co. formed in 1819 from Scott is down river on Eagle Creek from Scott Co but I believe Dennis located the land in what is present Scott Co. Given that the 1796/7 deeds were recorded in Fayette Co after the formation of Scott Co., I am wondering if a sale by William may not also be recorded in Fayette rather than in Scott Co. There is also a possibility that William moved on (say to Gasconade Co. MO though there are quite a few "missing" John of Bath sons who could have produced William/Sarah Smith b 1806) and a sale would be entered into a Circuit Court Record rather than in a deed book. There is also the possibility that this line daughtered out so a sale by heirs would not be listed under Kincaid. Finding out where "Aunt Hetty Odell" moved to in KY may provide a clue to William/Hannah's whereabouts.
