I ran across some old posts concerning some Kinkeads in Arkansas and I thought I would share some connections I've made. Articles from the Arkansas Gazette 23 Aug 1825 - "DIED - In this place on Wednesday evening last, Mr. Adam D. Kinkead, late of Versallies, Woodford County, Kentucky, in the 20th year of his age, a young man much esteemed and respected by all who knew him." This is Adam D. Kinkead, son of Joseph Kinkead and Nancy Dickinson, born in 1805 in Bath Co. VA, in Woodford Co. KY in the 1810 and 1820 census with his parents and died, obviously in 1825 in Jefferson Co. AR 27 Dec 1825 - "MARRIED - In Vaugine Township, in this county, on Tuesday evening last, Mr. William Kinkead, of this place, and formerly of Versailles, Ky., to Miss Leonora Dardenne, both of this county." 11 Jan 1832 - "SHOE-IN CANDIDATES - The following is a list of the Clerks of the Circuit Court and Sheriffs which are ascertained to be elected...Jefferson - James T. Pullen, Clerk and Wm. Kinkead, Sheriff..." [omitted other counties] 10 Fev 1835 - "DIED - (don't have text for this, just that it references William Kinkead, sheriff)" This is William Kinkead, son of Joseph Kinkead and Nancy Dickinson, born in 1805 in Bath Co. VA, in Woodford Co. KY in the 1810 and 1820 census with his parents, in Jefferson County from 1825 to 1835, sheriff from 1832-1835, died in 1835 in Jefferson Co. AR 1 Sep 1836 - Mrs. Leonora Kinkead remarries to Dr. James T. Pullen, county clerk from 1830-1839. 27 Apr 1837 - "DIED - On Thursday last, the 27th ult., at Pine Bluffs, Mrs. Leonara, wife of Dr. James T. Pullen, of a lingering pulmonary disease. Her loss is deplored by a husband and numerous offspring." 19 Jun 1839 - "KILLING - Dr. James T. Pullen, Postmaster at Pine Bluff, Jefferson county, and Clerk of the Circuit Court, was shot while standing in his door, at dusk, on the evening of the 11th inst. He lived until the next morning. The act is supposed to have been perpetrated by John N. Outlaw, who has not been seen since the commission of the outrage." [NOTE: Image available online] 10 Jul 1839 - "We stated a few weeks since, that Outlaw, the murderer of Doctor Pullen, was killed by a gentleman named Redditt. We were mistaken. The person who gave him the mortal wound, was Mr. Fanning, who, in company with Mr. Redditt, had started in the pursuit." >From Pioneers and Makers of Arkansas: "... In 1821, two brothers from Kentucky, Joseph and Andrew Colville, died; the former in Miller and the later in Pulaski County. In the same year at Arkansas Post Martha D. Long, wife of Zachariah Long, late of Versailles, Kentucky. ..." This is Martha D. Kinkead, daughter of Joseph Kinkead and Nancy Dickinson, born in 1805 in Bath Co. VA, in Woodford Co. KY in the 1810 census, married to Zachariah B. Long on 10/26/1815 in Woodford Co. KY. I don't have the source with me, but the land dealings in Woodford for Joseph Kinkead inherited from John Kinkead lists wife Nancy, and children John, Martha, Thomas, Margaret, William, Nancy and Adam.
Thank you go all the recent info on AR Kinkeads. One question though. Martha Kinkead born in 1805 and then married in 1815. I'm hoping that's a typo!!! ; ) Sent from my iPhone On Dec 12, 2012, at 1:37 PM, John Kinkead <johnkinkead@hotmail.com> wrote: > > I ran across some old posts concerning some Kinkeads in Arkansas and I thought I would share some connections I've made. > > Articles from the Arkansas Gazette > > 23 Aug 1825 - "DIED - In this place on Wednesday evening last, Mr. Adam D.
