    3. This helps explain the Lewis family that your John Francisco married into. This may be the connection that connects your Kinkead family to County Donegal. "The information you were asking for is as follows: Elizabeth Strother Lewis was the daughter of John Lewis (b.11-1-1749 d.1788) John and his wife (unknown) had 4 children: Thomas L., Elizabeth S., Charles A., and John B. John (the father) commanded a company at the Battle of Point Pleasant,(Va., now West Virginia) and was an officer under General George Washington. He was at Valley Forge with Washington and was present at the surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown. He was seriously wounded at Point Pleasant in 1774 and died in 1788. John Lewis was the son of Thomas Lewis b.4-27-1718 in Ireland (Donnegal County) d. 1-31-1790 near Fort Republic in Rockingham County, Va. He was very nearsighted and could not participate in military affairs as his brothers and father had done, however he was a man of much learning and ability, a member of the House of Burgesses and the Virginia Conventions of 1775 and 1776. He m. Jane Strother (1732-1820) daughter of William Strother of Stafford Co. Va. They had 13 Children. Thomas was the son of John Lewis. John was b. 1678 in county Donnegal, Ireland, d.2-1-1762 in Staunton Va. He married Margaret Lynn (b.7-3-1693 in Ireland, d.1773 in Staunton. John was the son of Andrew Lewis and Mary Calhoun. For any further information, may I suggest the book, John Lewis, Pioneer, by Irvin Frazier. This book has been a wonderful help to me. And now I know from your information that we are cousins, distant but none the less, cousins. Sincerely, Diane Blake" http://genforum.genealogy.com/cgi-bin/pageload.cgi?Strother::lewis::1709.html Barbara -----Original Message----- From: Barbara Van Hout Sent: Monday, December 03, 2012 11:29 AM To: kincaid@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [KINCAID] Francisco Family John Francisco was married to Elizabeth Strother Lewis, the daughter of John Lewis and Margaret Banks. John Lewis's children were Thomas Lynn Lewis, John Banks Lewis, Charles Augustus Lewis, and Elizabeth Strother Lewis. This John Lewis was in Dunmore's War of 1774. Land in Warm Springs, Virginia is included in this case. This information is in the Library of Virginia chancery cases for heirs of John Lewis in the Augusta County, VA records. Image 51/63 indicates that John Francisco and his wife Elizabeth Lewis lived in Kentucky in August, 1804. Search under the name Francisco. Also an earlier case for George Franciscus indicates that George and John were the sons of Christopher Franciscus/Francisco, the younger, son of Christopher Franciscus of Lancaster County, PA. Here is another connection of the Francisco family to the Frazier family through this marriage: 1786--September 29, Captain George Frazer and Sally Francisco, daughter of Geo. Francisco; surety, John Francisco. Augusta County, Virginia Marriages - Frazer and Frazier - 1786-1844 Barbara -----Original Message----- From: John Kinkead Sent: Friday, November 30, 2012 11:13 AM To: kincaid@rootsweb.com Subject: [KINCAID] Francisco Family In my research, I've run across numerous connections between the Francisco and Kinkead families. Some of these Franciscos migrated from Germany to Lancaster Co. PA to Augusta Co. VA (1740s) to Woodford Co. KY (1780s) to Saline Co. MO. (1840). My Kinkead line also has ties to Lancaster Co. PA then to Augusta, Woodford and Saline at roughly the same time. The sister of my 3rd great grandfather is found living with Mary Francisco-Frazier, daughter of George Francisco and widow of Joseph Frazier in 1850 and 1860 in Fayette Co. KY, and I have numerous Wills, Bonds, etc. with both Kinkead and Francisco names. However, I've been unable to find any marriages between the two families. It seems odd to me that families that migrated together and obviously trusted each other wouldn't intermarry. I'm curious if anyone run across a Kinkead-Francisco marriage?
