Thanks, Larry. It was a long time in coming to publication. I submitted it in the fall of 2001 and it was rejected. I'm glad I was able to do this for Uncle Carl. We had such fun going through his letters and doing the interviews. Folks- The variable in the Kindle is the size of the pad, i.e. the size of the type you can blow up to. There are optional extras; e.g. built-in keyboard, webcam, etc. which jack up the price. The next level is the color one which is similar to an iPad. I don’t know about the new releases. Then there’s the Kindle app. you can download for FREE to your desktop/laptop. That’s what I got to read ATLAS SHRUGGED with. She gets drier as the story goes along and I needed the ability to enlarge the type for Book Three. Now that I have a wall full of once-read books that the library won’t take as donations*, I’m going to go with Kindle for the foreseeable future. (I’ll buy the dead-tree versions of Tim Dorsey because the covers themselves are art.) Dick Kinkead 2562 *The reason given was “rights,” but the librarians are libs and the books are mostly right-sided nonfiction. Sue sent this to the list in 2002: Thomas Feemster was on land patented by William Lewis. Thomas sold to the Reverand John Montgomery in 1764, who sold to Alexander Taylor in 1792. John had other land in the area. John was also mininster at the first Windy Cove Presp. Church. He performed marriages for James Kincaid and Jean Curry in 1791, William Kincaid and Elizabeth Fawcett in 1800, Charles Lewis and Jane Dickenson in 1799. A daughter church to Windy Cove was the on the John Dean Land on the Jackson River. STUARTS CREEK: Up the creek were Gillespies (Thomas Gillespy's 1785 will names wife Eleanor, sons: John, Thomas, Jacob, Samual, James and William daus.: Mary Donally, Hannah Jones, Jane ?, Eleanor and Ann). James Stuart sold his land at the mouth to to Richard Mathews who sold in 1802 to JOSEPH KINCAID. THOMAS KINCAID was granted in 1796 70a on both sides of Stuarts Creek, a branch of the Cowpasture c John Edda and James Bleaks line. JOSEPH & THOMAS KINCAID bought land from John Eddy in 1793. Other names in the area: Fitzpatrick, Hall, Mitchell, and McCay http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/kincaid/2002-07/1027535785 A little more on the last post (from Sue) The father of Jean Curry who m James Kinkead 1791 was Robt Curry. Joseph Kinkead was a witness. So this looks like Stuart Creek area ***************** There is a letter in the RW pension file for Joseph Kinkead of Woodford County, KY, pension or land applied for by his son Thomas U Kinkead. This letter was from a descendant, suggesting that James Kinkead/Jean Curry was a brother of Joseph. Jane Dickenson (Charles Lewis) was a sister of the Nancy Dickenson who married Joseph Kinkead. In order to prove this hypothesis would be a deed from William & Hannah or their heirs selling the 332a on Eagle Creek William was bequeathed in John of Bath's will. Such a deed has so far eluded detection. Dennis House has uncovered some Fayette Co. KY deeds concerning this land Fayette Co. Ky is mentioned in the will and is the Co. where a sale to John Kincaid of 664.5 a on Eagle Creek is recorded in 1783 (DB2-84). This purchase is a bit confusing given the patent date below. Perhaps this is a survey date rather than a purchase?? Looking at the deed in its entirety would be a help in understanding. On 10/10/1796 John appointed his trusty friend, Andrew Kincaid of Bourbon Co. KY his lawful attorney, who on 10/12/1796 conveyed 1/2 the track to John Clark, who had located the land by virtue of warrants furnished him by John Kincaid. This was acknowledged in Bath Co. VA on the above date and recorded in Fayette Co. KY 11/18/1797. On 11/18/1797 John Kincaid of Bath Co. VA sold 1/2a, part of 664 1/2a in Scott Co. KY on the waters of Eagle Creek, beginning on the east bank of a fork called Masterson's Creek, entered in the name of John Kincaid and paid by John Clarke...land granted to Kincaid by patent May 16, 1797. signed Andrew Kincaid, attorney for John Kincaid. Scott Co. from Woodford Co. 1792, Woodford from Fayette 1789. Owen Co. formed in 1819 from Scott is down river on Eagle Creek from Scott Co but I believe Dennis located the land in what is present Scott Co. Given that the 1796/7 deeds were recorded in Fayette Co after the formation of Scott Co., I am wondering if a sale by William may not also be recorded in Fayette rather than in Scott Co. There is also a possibility that William moved on (say to Gasconade Co. MO though there are quite a few "missing" John of Bath sons who could have produced William/Sarah Smith b 1806) and a sale would be entered into a Circuit Court Record rather than in a deed book. There is also the possibility that this line daughtered out so a sale by heirs would not be listed under Kincaid. Finding out where "Aunt Hetty Odell" moved to in KY may provide a clue to William/Hannah's whereabouts. Thomas/Isabella Kincaid Kincaid had a son John born c1786. Information I have doesn't give additional information. John of Bath had a son John whom we have not identified. John of Bath's will was filed in April 1813 so it is not him. David (who m Sarah Hodge) had a son John but he would be much too young. John/Elizabeth Dean Kincaid lived on the Jackson River so is a possibility. The William who m Hannah Fawcett is intriguing as Elizabeth Fawcett Kincaid's niece says that the two William Kincaids who married the Fawcett girls were not related. Could this William be the son of John/Elizabeth of Bath? Note that the niece says that they moved to KY. Sue Liedtke >> Letter from Lucretia Catherine Fawcett-McCluer (niece of Elizabeth >> Fawcett-Kinkead) dated 12 April 1911 transcribed by Susan D Chambliss on >> 26 >> January 2000: "Pa's five sisters moved away. This record of the children of Benjamin Faucett is in Chalkley's Chronicles, Vol. 2. Salvage vs. Faucett--O. S. 380; N. S. 139--Bill, 1821, by Benj. Salvage, that in 1796 he formed partnership with Benj. Faucett, then living in Rockingham, to manufacture iron. Fawcett owned a furnace in Rockingham called Idaho Furnace. Agreement was that the lands owned by Faucett should belong to the partnership. There was no division (the furnace failed for lack of iron), and Fawcett moved to Bath, and died, intestate, leaving children, viz: Joseph, Charles, Benj., Mary, Ann, Elizabeth, Catherine, Hannah, Abigail, Drusilla. It should appear for sale on Amazon.com within 24 hours. I have uploaded the title cover on the Kincaid Research page under Kincaid-Duncan History. It is a project that I began in 1992 when my grandmother, Ruth D. (McMickell) Duncan, gave me a stack of letters from her son, Carl M. Duncan, which he wrote from Dec. 1952-Oct. 1954 when he was in the United States Army. I put a manuscript together in 2001 which included the transcribed letters and the interviews I did with my Uncle Carl Duncan in 1992. Of course, it was rejected. I rekeyed the manuscript earlier this year and previewed it on Facebook. Today I placed it on the market. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~kincaide/Kincaid%20Research/Kincaide%20Duncan%20History/inspections,%20alerts%20and%20frauleins%20cover.jpg http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~kincaide/Kincaid%20Research/Kincaide%20Duncan%20History/ Sincerely Norman Kincaide For complete information about the Kincaid of all spellings DNA project, including a chart, lineages, and how to participate, go to: www.kincaiddna.org ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to KINCAID-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

Salvage vs. Faucett--O. S. 380; N. Mary married Wm. Harrison,Ann married John Bright, Elizabeth married William Kinkead, Catherine married John Hodge, Hannah married Wm. Kinkead, Abigail married Alexander McKillen (Kalips), Drusilla married William Hodge. DRUSILLA FAWCETT (HODGE), the youngest daughter of Benjamin and Delilah Fawcett, was probably born in Shenandoah County, Virginia in the 1790s, and then raised in Rockingham County. She married William Hodge on July 1, 1813 in Bath County, Virginia, with John D. Ervin acting as minister (Marriage Bonds). John Kinkead provided surety and Benjamin Fawcett consented on the Marriage Bond of June 22, 1813 (Metheny and Wise 1978:45). They probably continued to live in Bath County, but nothing more is known about their lives. Descendants of the Hodge family lived there into the 20th century. http://gausschildren.org/genwiki/index.php?title=Fawcett:FAWCETT,_Drusilla_( 1789_-_) Who was the John Kinkead who provided surety for the marriage of Drusilla Fawcett to William Hodge in 1813? I know in the past there was some confusion about whether the sisters actually married the same William Kinkead. In another suit, Elizabeth is referred to as Betsy Kinkead, the same nickname that her nieces use in their accounts. In both lawsuits, William and Elizabeth do not appear in court and are referred to as not residing in the counties where the suits are filed (one in Augusta and the other in Bath). > From: dutchtreat@prodigy.net > To: kincaid@rootsweb.com > Date: Wed, 29 Aug 2012 15:00:40 -0400 > Subject: Re: [KINCAID] Vetting Post #241829 to John & Margaret Kinkead > > Here is someone's research on the Fawcett,Faucett family of Virginia. > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.fawcett/229/mb.ashx > > "I am interested in finding out more about Benj. Descendants of the Hodge family lived there into the 20th century. http://gausschildren.org/genwiki/index.php?title=Fawcett:FAWCETT,_Drusilla_(1789_-_) Who was the John Kinkead who provided surety for the marriage of Drusilla Fawcett to William Hodge in 1813?
