It is at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/va/cityofalexandria/history/letters/kincaid8.txt This was noted years ago by Barb Van Hout, but I did not pick up on it much. What is interesting is that James Patton was married to a Mollie Kincaid. James Kincaid of Boston must have been a relative of his wife. Now James Patton is said to have been born in Newtown-Limavady (now called just Limavady), County Londonderry, Ireland. I wonder if Mollie and James were from there as well. From the letter I get the impression that James's wife was Martha. Did anyone follow-up on this James Kincaid of Boston? First, my apologies for the typo in reporting the 38-46 marker results for #242205 C-2. The rest of his upgrade to 67 markers has been returned. He matches the C-2 AAV at all of the 1-67 markers. There are 2 upgrades to 111 markers still at the lab. One of these includes the 38-67 range. Results are due back within the week When they are returned, I will send the updated chart to Grant for posting. If you need a change in chart information and have not already contacted me please do so in the next few days. My e-mail address is seleaml@actionnet.net Sue Liedtke

Barb, Chris has that record included in the notes of Thomas Kincaid who m. Mary Mackey. We didn't have much luck trying to connect him to Daniel Morgan's Rifle Regt. I have planned on leaving Chris' file, just as she left it. I have found a few typographical errors, and hope that people will know which ones they are. You are always welcome to add a post-em to her file. Actually, I have been trying to add her records to FamilySearch, Family Tree. She has 90,000 individuals in her file and I thought that placing them in FamilyTree, would probably preserve them the best. I don't think, however, that I will live long enough to get all of the names done. I often have to look for more information. Thank you, Barb. These are the records that I found online for four descendants of Thomas Kincaid/Mary Mackey. They believe that their ancestor Thomas Kincaid served under Capt. William Henderson in Daniel Morgan's Rifle Regiment as a sergeant. I could not find enlistment records for this Thomas Kincaid on the website www.fold3.com. His family did not apply for pension benefits based on his believed RW service. Jessie Hagan indicated that the proof cited is Adjutant Generals report. At one time, the Edit menu would bring the "Find on Page" box up directly but now I see that the "Find" choice gives the directions you have given. Thank you for calling our attention to the feature. Personally I prefer working with a printout rather than an electronic rendition. Maybe I am just getting old but to me it is quicker, even if I do have to scan through the numbers several times, than pulling up the chart, moving across it with a slider and juggling between screens. The printed chart also allows me to append written notes if needed. A plus for someone who makes as many typos as I do. Dick, you will find #2564 near the bottom of the A-1a "Greater Augusta" section on the chart. Your results, #2562 A-1a, were reported earlier and like Jeff's do not very from the Group A AAV in the marker 38-67 range. We now have so many participants that finding DNA kit numbers on the chart can be daunting. Sometimes I too have difficulty finding a particular number. I will try to remember to attach Group-set designations to the first mention of a kit number in an e-mail thus reducing the amount of numbers needing to be scanned. It would be quite helpful if others would do the same. Sue- I don’t see a 2564. Perhaps this was me, 2562? The rest of the 38-67 results have been returned for #2564's order to 111 markers. He matches the Group A AAV on these markers. At the present I do not report or put on the chart results for the 68-111 markers but that may change if mutation patterns appear as more participants upgrade. Sue Liedtke
The first panel for #2564's (A-1a Greater Augusta) upgrade from 37 to 111 markers has been returned. On markers 38-46 he matches the Group A Apparent Ancestral Values exactly. He is a descendent of John b 1771 VA d 1814 TN m 1797 VA Nancy Young Results for #270925's (C-2) upgrade from 37 to 67 markers has been returned. He matches the C-2 AAV at these markers. He believes descent from William of York Co. PA b 1779 d 1843. In addition, Amon (#1255 A-1b) has informed me that the death date for his vetted ancestor Sherod is incorrect on the chart. Sherod d c1867 not c1863. Thank you Amon for catching the error. The correction has been made on the master chart but will not appear on the website until I send Grant the chart later this month. If anyone else notices an error or needs to change information on the chart, please inform me off list at seleaml@actionnet.net during the coming week. Please include kit number and Group-set so I am sure what to change and can easily find the correct line. Sue Liedtke
I'm always so happy when one of you very knowledgable people post with advice as to whether or not to spend money on some of this "newer" testing. When I saw the Group B message the other day, I pretty much dived right in, with no idea or understanding of what I was doing. I'm assuming there is still a sample of my late husband, Charles' #1494 DNA. But then thankfully, after reading the postings from Peter and Norman, I changed my mind. I don't know if I'll ever know any more than I already know about my husband's KinKaid family. I certainly wish he had tested as being in Group A....then I'd feel as though I'm getting somewhere. Group B is pretty much at a stand-still and has taken so many years to even grow to the few in the group. Lewis Ray Kinkaid and my husband were the closest match. But when Ray died a year or so before Charles, his family didn't wish to continue to be involved like Ray had been. Again, I'm so grateful for the knowledge I'm able to gain about further testing and what it really won't do that would be of much value to me. I hope that the day is coming where I'll once again have some time for further KinKaid research, but now with the care of my 96 year old mother and 92 year old aunt...my time is pretty limited. Both. For the time being it will tell you things in a broader sense. If a bunch of Group A Kincaids do the test then one can work out connections like that of strs, but with much better precision. Until then it will not help you. Given the cost I’d say the odds of seeing a lot of Kincaids tested is low. My thoughts are that over time family snps will be identified and we will have a better picture than what strs will tell us. However, I think it best to wait for the technology to develop more and costs get down a lot. Gene, I forgot to ask if you have any of your first Kincaid book for sale. I received an inquiry about it a while back. A genealogical history of the name of Kincaid with certain descents by Eugene Davis Kincaid (1987) If you have any left let me know the price and I will relay the info to the interested party. Don
