    1. Re: [KINCAID] William Kincaid marriages in Bath Co, KY
    2. Judy Roth
    3. Please note: the Small family records say George Small had 3 children married to Kincaids. The only Kincaid/Small marriage record still existing in Bath Co is for William and Polly.  Barbara Neal may be the daughter of John Neal (Neall/Neale) listed in the 1830 Bath Co census p222/8; 1820 Bath Co census p174/2 and probably the Fleming Co census in 1810. Small family records state Malinda Small married Anderson Kincaid about 1821 and had sons Thomas and John. Malinda is the wife of Ignatius Burns in 1850 and her father George is in the household. There are no Kincaids listed in the household. It is possible Anderson Kincaid is the unknown male 16-25 in the 1810 household of Thomas Kincaid and Mary Bracken. He is still in the household in 1820. If he is Thomas' son, Mary Bracken would not be his mother. Laura Kincaid married William Small about 1830. He is single in 1850.   Laura is a ? The Kincaid children in the Small records are listed as John b1-17-1818, Eliza Jane b6-19-1820, Emily Ann b8-22-1821, Lucretia b11-17-1822, Thomas (no date) and William Wesley b9-19-1827. There is no Guy listed. The 1820 census says William had 1 male 0-9 and 1 female 0-9. The 1830 census says William had 3 males 0-4, 2 males 5-9, 2 females 5-9.The male and female born before 1820 are not in the 1830 census. They could be John and Eliza Jane and they could have died. Two of the five sons listed could be Thomas and William. The 2 females could be Emily and Lucretia. That leaves 3 males ages 0-9 not accounted for in Small records. The taxes on William's land in Bath County were paid through 1834. Barbara has a land patent in Greene Co, IL dated 4-22-1835. That would seem to indicate William did not ever live in Christian Co, KY. There is no Guy in the listed children. There are no daughters listed in the 1830 census as being born after 1824/5. Records have not been found for Anderson Kincaid who evidently died before 1850. There is a William Kincaid in Christian Co in 1830 with 2 males 0-4, 1 male 5 -9 and 1 female 0-4. If the Barbara in 1850 Macoupin is the widow of this William, The 2 males 0-4 would appear to be Levi and Andrew Jackson (see Barbara's post re land inherited in 1847 from deceased son William who could be the male 5-9). Archer/Archie would appear to be born after the 1830 census was taken. There is no Guy listed here either. ________________________________ From: Courtney Kahler <ckinkead@yahoo.com> To: "kincaid@rootsweb.com" <kincaid@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, March 13, 2014 10:20 AM Subject: Re: [KINCAID] William Kincaid marriages in Bath Co, KY Well if that is the right family group, then that Guy is not the only Guy, just the first one.  Because Guy H's grandson was Guy Hunt Kinkead, and Guy Hunt's grandson is my father Guy Albert Kinkead.  =-) Many have assumed the H in Guy H was Guy Hunt as it is in the grandson, but I am not certain of that.  Guy Hunt's maternal grandfather's named was Montgomery Hunt Cushing, so I am guessing the Hunt name came in from there, rather than the Kinkead side.  So I have stopped presuming the elder Guy H Kinkead is Guy Hunt.   Courtney Kahler http://www.chainedheartjewelry.com/ ________________________________ From: Randall Kincaid <rkincaid@sprynet.com> To: kincaid@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, March 13, 2014 10:11 AM Subject: Re: [KINCAID] William Kincaid marriages in Bath Co, KY Also interesting to note the additional use of the name "Thomas." 3. I think I've tried before to connect to that family group but hadn't been able to reconcile anything.  But I'm a newbie at all of this genealogy anyway.  =-) I think if I can at Christmas this year, going to get either my father or brother to do the Y dna test.  Just can't do it yet.  But it might help a heck of a lot with our poor disconnected line.  The line I'm from had mostly girls down the line so my brother and his boys are the only male Kinkeads in our line left.   Courtney Kahler www.chainedheartjewelry.com ________________________________ From: Richard Kinkead <rkinkead11@comcast.net> To: Courtney Kahler <ckinkead@yahoo.com>; kincaid@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, March 13, 2014 10:33 AM Subject: Re: [KINCAID] William Kincaid marriages in Bath Co, KY With the name GUY being bandied about here, it’s odd no one’s brought up William Guy (Gay) Kinkead, son of Captain William Kinkead of Pisgah, KY.   Dick K.  2562  From: Courtney Kahler Sent: Thursday, March 13, 2014 11:20 AM To: kincaid@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [KINCAID] William Kincaid marriages in Bath Co, KY   Well if that is the right family group, then that Guy is not the only Guy, just the first one. Courtney Kahler www.chainedheartjewelry.com

    3. Oh here's a question then... So this William was married twice.. Could Polly then be the mother of Guy?  Assuming this is the right grouping anyway that he belongs to.  Because in that 1850 census Guy isn't living with Barbara.  Perhaps she wasn't his mother, just a step-mother. But then that doesn't answer why Archie and Guy state they were born in Christian County KY since both of those William Kincaid marriages were in Bath County.    Courtney Kahler www.chainedheartjewelry.com ________________________________ From: Randall Kincaid <rkincaid@sprynet.com> To: kincaid@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, March 13, 2014 10:11 AM Subject: Re: [KINCAID] William Kincaid marriages in Bath Co, KY Also interesting to note the additional use of the name "Thomas." 3. Also, the marriage of William Kincaid and Barbara Neal is in 1829. Barbara's earlier citation of the 1850 census is as follows: 1850 Macoupin County, IL Federal Census Barbara Kinkead, a. 56 b. OH Jackson Kinkead a. 21, b. KY (b. about 1829) Archer/Archie Kinkead a. 19, b. KY (b. about 1831) Levi Kinkead a. 23, b. KY (b. about 1827) So it would appear that Levi Kinkead is born two years prior to the marriage and possibly Jackson Kinkead is born close to the date of the marriage. This suggests some problems in assigning parentage. -----Original Message----- >From: Barbara Van Hout <dutchtreat@prodigy.net> >Sent: Mar 12, 2014 7:08 PM >To: Judy Roth <jroth93947@yahoo.com>, kincaid@rootsweb.com >Subject: Re: [KINCAID] William Kincaid marriages in Bath Co, KY > >Here is the will of a Thomas Kincaid in Menard County, IL. 3. However there is a town of Carlisle in Cumberland Co. PA. The informant or biographer evidently heard that Wm T was born in Carlisle PA and assumed that was the county name rather than a town name. I have noted mixups between a location name being that of a township or county have occured in other records when the author does not have geopolitical knowledge of the area. A DNA participant from this line might shed light on descent from Andrew as Archibald's descendents appear to have a mutation to 17 at marker 25 (DYS 464d) which Andrew's line does not have. The "might" and "appear" are in the previous sentence because lines down from Andrew & Archibald have not been vetted nor has a vetted line through a second son isolated the mutation to Archibald. 3. Well if that is the right family group, then that Guy is not the only Guy, just the first one. Courtney Kahler www.chainedheartjewelry.com ________________________________ From: Randall Kincaid <rkincaid@sprynet.com> To: kincaid@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, March 13, 2014 10:11 AM Subject: Re: [KINCAID] William Kincaid marriages in Bath Co, KY Also interesting to note the additional use of the name "Thomas." 3. There are Archibald Kincaid/Janette Townsley descendants. This Andrew, Archibald's son, is known as Andrew II in the family. His wife was Ann Patterson Caldwell. They are closely associated and intermarried with both the Smalls and Reeds. You will find other earlier records in Sangamon County as Menard County was formed from Sangamon in 1839. It seems likely that the Thomas of the will would be the son of William Kincaid and Polly Small, as he is a Kincaid and notes Lucinda Small as his aunt. He would then be a probable half brother to the sons of the Barbara Kinkead of Greene and Macoupon Counties. It is family tradition that Andrew's son, William, and Archibald's son, William, were both William Townsley Kincaid, named after Martha and Janette Townsley's father. The witness of the will is likely not "I. K. Kincaid" but "J. K. Kincaid"...John Kennedy Kincaid. 3. There was a William Kinkead in the 1830 Christian County, KY census. I previously thought that he was the son of Guy Kinkead/Lovey Dictum. This Guy Kinkead is believed to have been the son of William Kinkead/Eleanor Gay/Guy of Woodford County, KY. But this William Kinkead household (1830, Christian County, KY) seems to match what we know of Barbara Kinkead's children as named in the 1850 Macoupin County, IL census. If this is the correct William/Barbara, Archibald G. Kinkead who was born in 1832 was not included in this 1830 census. William Kinkead a. 20-30, 2 males under age 5 and 1 male a. 5-10. Females: 1 under age 5 and 1 a. 20-30. Letters on Randy's Andrew and Archibald website indicate that Barbara was married to a William Kinkead in Kentucky. The gravestone for for A. G. Kinkead and Lucy gives this information: Dr. A. G. The record does specifically appoint his "wife, Polly" as executrix and it simply states that the blacksmith tools are bequested to "Archibald Kincaid of Pike County, Illinois". It would be wrong to assign Archibald as George's son as it seems likely that he is not. Where the will specifies the relationship to Polly, it is the lack of a specified relationship that makes it likely Archibald is not George's son. It could be a nephew, a cousin or other relationship or no relationship. 1. [KINCAID] William T Kincaid of Carlisle County, PA, Kentucky & Greene County, Illinois
    2. Kim Kincaid
    3. I found this online and it refers to descendants of William T Kincaid of Greene County, Illinois. It mentions that his father was named Archibald. " Mr. Shumate was a second time married on the 20th of December, 1847, in Greene County, Ill., the lady of his choice being Miss Mary Kincaid, daughter of William T. Kincaid who was born in Carlisle County, Pa. Her grandfather, Archibald Kincaid, was born in Ireland, and at an early day went to Pennsylvania, where for some time he filled the office of Surveyor. He was a well educated man, a prominent citizen and an influential member of society. In the early history of Kentucky he removed with his family to that State where he developed two farms. In 1821 he came to Illinois, making a locating in Greene County, where he entered large tracts of land. He was a Presbyterian elder and a gentleman of most worthy character whose loss the community deeply mourned. The father of Mrs. Shumate remained in Pennsylvania until twelve years of age when he accompanied his family to Kentucky where he was married. He served in the War of 1812, andparticipated in the battle of Tippecanoe under Gen. Harrison. In 1818 he brought his wife and children to Illinois, which became a State in that year and entered land in Sinclair County. He was a man of great energy and of resolute purpose, and whatever he undertook was sure to accomplish. In connection with general farming he carried on stock raising and was very successful in the undertaking. In the fall of 1822 he removed to Greene County, where he improved a large farm, becoming one of the substantial citizens of the community. He was first a Whig and afterwards a Republican in politics, and in religious belief was a Presbyterian. He died in June, 1876, at the ripe old age of ninety years. His wife was born in Virginia and her father served in the Revolutionary War. He owned a number of slaves and about 1818 removed to Pike County, Mo., where he last days were spent. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Kincaid - John M., a resident of Texas; Andrew K., who died in Galena, Ill.; Archibald, who died in Greene County; Mrs. Sallie Mitchell, of Greene County; Mary, wife of our subject; Jemima and Eliza, who died in Greene County; Mrs. Gabrilla Reeves, of Greene County; William L., who served the late war and is now living in Greene County. John M. was also in the late war for about three years." http://sangamon.illinoisgenweb.org/1891/shumate.htm

    1. [KINCAID] Guy H Kinkead of Greene Co, IL and Archibald G. Kinkead
    2. Barbara Van Hout
    3. Green County, IL probate records: Guy H Kinkead was a buyer at the estate sale of Richard M. Booker. Richard M Booker's daughter Lucy was married to Archibald G. Kinkead, who was likely the son of Barbara Kinkead. The 1850 Greene County, IL shows an Archie Kincaid, a. 19, living with Barbara Kincaid. Letters on Randy's Andrew and Archibald website indicate that Barbara was married to a William Kinkead in Kentucky. The gravestone for for A. G. Kinkead and Lucy gives this information: Dr. A. G. Kinkead Sept. 7, 1832 July 23, 1909 Lucy J. His Wife Aug. 28, 1838 Jan. 9, 1929 There is another record record for A. G. Kinkead (Archibald) and Guy H. Kinkead was listed with him, possibly as security. I will look for that record again Here is the obituary for Lucy Jane Kinkead that I found on ancestry.com Obit of Lucy Jane Booker Kinkead http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/39016492/person/19315224549/photox/81f4ed54-3e8b-4de8-a79d-dd08e1ff14b8?src=search .KINKAID, ARCHIBALD G BOOKER, LUCY 1853-07-21 001 0108 00003228 GREENE KINKEAD, GUY H PUNSLEY, MARTHA E (SEE PURSLEY) 1847-11-24 3 1191 MACOUPIN Greene County, IL Probate records 1852-1860 vol E https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-17910-419-72?cc=1834344&wc=MDR8-V38:162587101,162644401 https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-17909-124642-83?cc=1834344&wc=MDR8-V38:162587101,162644401 What is interesting is that Archibald and Lucy also resided in Macoupin County, IL, bordering Greene County, and Archibald said that he was born in Christian County, KY, according to this record: Kinkead, A. The fact is that will does not specify any children whatsoever. > > This family group is likely to be part of the Andrew Kincaid/Martha > Townsley family. -----Original Message----- From: kincaid-request <kincaid-request@rootsweb.com> To: kincaid <kincaid@rootsweb.com> Sent: Mon, Mar 10, 2014 2:12 am Subject: KINCAID Digest, Vol 9, Issue 44 Today's Topics: 1. From: rkincaid@sprynet.com Subject: [KINCAID] Illinois Kincaids Date: Tue, 25 Sep 2001 18:35:56 -0400 Here are two links to biographies transcribed from the 1891 biographical history of Sangamon Co., IL. This helps sort out some of the Kincaids in Sangamon, Menard and Greene Cos., IL. The first is for John R. Kincaid, son of James and Mary Jane (Gwin) Kincaid. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilsangam/1891/kincaid.htm The second is for William Shumate, whose second wife was Mary Kincaid. What is significant about this is that from a previous abstract, I erroneously believed that Mary was a granddaughter of Archibald and a daughter of Archibald's son, William Townsley Kincaid. Now with the complete biography, it can be determined that the publication had the name of her grandfather wrong. This Mary is the granddaughter of ANDREW Kincaid, the daughter of his son, William Townsley Kincaid and Elizabeth Mace. The movements, locations and dates are those of Andrew (and verified through other sources) and it's known that Archibald stayed in Bath Co., KY and died there. Note the complete listing of children, with locations, for William Townsley Kincaid and Elizabeth Mace. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilsangam/1891/shumate.htm -----Original Message----- >From: Kim Kincaid <n2myroots@aol.com> >Sent: Mar 12, 2014 1:48 PM >To: kincaid@rootsweb.com >Subject: [KINCAID] William T Kincaid of Carlisle County, PA, Kentucky & Greene County, Illinois > >I found this online and it refers to descendants of William T Kincaid of Greene County, Illinois. He served in the War of 1812, andparticipated in the battle of! ! > Tippecanoe under Gen. John M. was also in the late war for about three years." > >http://sangamon.illinoisgenweb.org/1891/shumate.htm > >For complete information about the Kincaid of all spellings DNA project, including a chart, lineages, and how to participate, go to: > >www.kincaiddna.org > > > > > >------------------------------- >To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to KINCAID-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
