Sue, Since Andrew and Ann Pogue died in Fleming Co, I would guess that early records for them might appear in Mason Co, KY. I agree, Andrew Kincaid and Mary Caldwell are most probably the family in the early Bourbon Co, KY records. If the 200 acres mentioned on Flat Run in 1788 is in present Bath county, it would be in the NW section of the County. I have not found any traces of the unknown Thomas except for the tax record and the census record. He could be the son of John and Margaret of Versailles. There are also records for Archibald Kincaid m Rebecca Thompson abt 1805 in Rowan Co,NC. They came to Bath Co 1816-1820. His father was James, mother Hannah. DNA says he is related to Andrew/Archibald. Robert Kincaid m Rebecca Evans came to Bath County about 1827 from Clark Co. I think Barbara thinks he is a possible son of John/Elizabeth Logan of Washington Co, VA. He had eleven children: daughters Margaret and Rhoda, and possibly Sally and Elizabeth. He had sons James, Joseph, Lot, Evan, Asa and John and possibly Charles by an unknown White. Hello, I hope someone can help me. I am interested in any information on Charles Kinkead of Strabane, date of birth & death immediate family etc . I am researching him for one of my antique classes, I have a mahogany tall clock with his name and Strabane engraved on the dial and would appreciate any help you could offer about this clockmaker. Heaton: Orange Barber Heaton, father-in-law of John Ebsworth Owsley, was born 28 Oct 1802. in Thetford, Orange, VT and died in 1876. He was the son of Orange Heaton I (1761-1843) and his second wife Jessimina Smith. Orange Heaton I served as a private during the Revolutionary War in Olcott’s Vermont Militia. The family is lisited on the 1810 census as residing in Thetford Vermont. In 1827 he received his medical degree from the University of Vermont. He married (1) Emily Bledsoe on 28 July 1829, daughter of Moses Owsley Bledsoe and Sophia Childress Taylor. Emily Bledsoe, the daughter of Moses Bledsoe and Sophia Childress Taylor, was born 31 March, 1811. Emily married Dr. Orange B. Heaton 28 July 1829 in St. Louis Missouri. Soon after their marriage they moved to Illinois where Orange became a "very significant land owner". Approximately 100 separate Illinois Public Land Purchase Records are available on Ancestry.com. for Orange Heaton. Orange B. Heaton’s name also appears in the legal papers of Abraham Lincoln Their family is listed on the 1830, Greene, Illinois Census and on the 1840 census for Carrollton, Illinois. Not much is known about their marriage or their life after. More records here: http://owsleytidepool.org/AncestralReflectionsMilancie/HeatonOrangeB.htm This connection to the Owsley family may be important, because there was a Kincaid marriage to an Owsley in Lincoln Co, KY in the mid-1800's. Sue, I think this William is the son of Archibald and Janet. He married Polly Small 1-10-1815 in Bath County. He married Barbara Neal 1-14-1829 in Bath County. William probably died 1835-40 in KY or IL. Barbara is living in Greene Co, IL in 1860 with a son Archibald b abt 1835 KY. 1830 Bath County - page 225-11 William and wife age 30-40, 3 males 0-5, 2 males 5-10, 2 females 5-10 Small family researchers say Polly's children were raised by several Smalls. Family records listed Polly's children as: John b1-17-1818 Eliza Jane b6-19-1820 Emily Ann b8-22-1821 m Cornelius Lyman 1-28-1840 Sangamon Co, IL Lucretia b11-17-1822 Thomas b12-1824 (with James and Lucinda Small in 1850 Bath) William Wesley b9-19-1827 This list does not account for all the children in the 1830 household. Small records also say: Anderson Kincaid married Malinda Small (b1802) in 1821. William Small (b1807) married abt 1830 Laura Kincaid (b1810). I have no records for these families and I don't know the parents of the Kincaids. Kincaid/Johannah Baldwin It doesn't look like George/Polly Heaton has anything to do with the family tracked by these censuses. The age fits with George C./Johanna. Samuel B with daughter Johanna is consistent with what you would expect a child of this couple and his daughter be named. The censuses are tracking the same George from 1810-1830. There is a William in the 1820 census. He lives in the same district as George in Bath Co. 1/0/0/1/0/1*1/2/0/1/0. He is not the brother of George/Johanna as George's brother William is still back in Greenbrier Co. This William is still there in 1830 age 30-40. 3/2/0/0/0/1/0*0/2/0/0/0/1/0/0/0. Anyone have any idea who is might be? He could be the father of the John and James below. It looks like George died between 1830 and 1840. Johanna would be the female 50-60 in Willis's 1840 household and sister Mary is the female 30-40. By 1850 Johannah is no longer there but sister Mary age 46 is. Did Johannah die or did she move in with daughter Elizabeth and her husband Abram Beckner or perhaps the missing daughter. The Baldwin family suggests that she d prior to 1869. Where that came from isn't given so she may have died quite awhile earlier. She didn't move in with Samuel B. He is in the 1850 Nicholas census 9 names away from Willis. F. Samuel B. Barbara, I don't know who Polly Heaton's parents were, but I'd guess they were from PA. I think George is the son of Archibald and Janet. I don't know which Kincaid married a Heaton in MO. Maybe something here can help. 10-21-1788 Bourbon Co, KY - William Caldwell and Andrew Kincaid witnessed the sale of 200 acres on Flat Run by Manoah Singleton to Thomas Fletcher in the pre-emption of Jacob Johnson to Manoah Singleton. I don't think this is Andrew of Archibald/Andrew as he is on the 1790 Cumberland Co, PA census. Andrew, son of Archibald, married Ann Patterson Caldwell 8-13-1807. It appears two Andrew Kincaids had a relationship with William Caldwell or two different William Caldwells. 1793 Bourbon Co, KY Tax List John, David, Andrew Kincaid, John Townsley John Townsley, brother of Janet and Martha, was living in Cynthiana, KY in 1793. Brother Thomas Townsley joined him later, and brother George Townsley joined them when they moved to Ohio abt 1801. They are all living in Greene Co, OH, Xenia Twp in 1820. There is a John Heaton also living in Xenia Twp. 1795 Bourbon Co, KY Tax List: Andrew, Archibald, David, James, William and Andrew Kincaid I vaguely recall reading somewhere that William was the father of Andrew and that Andrew's wife was Ann Pogue? 1796 Bourbon Co, KY Tax List: Andrew, Archibald, David, Capt Andrew, Andrew Sr, Joseph Kincaid 1797 Bourbon Co, KY Tax List: David, Capt Andrew, Joseph Kincaid David d1795 in Bourbon - did anyone ever find a marriage for his daughter Mary? Is Capt Andrew the one who moved to MO? If so, maybe the unknown Mary Kincaid m John Caldwell 3-13-1803 is his daughter. Joseph d1797 in Bourbon and William Martin and Walter Caldwell were witnesses to his will. He married Jane Martin 6-25-1795 Harrison. 1797 Montgomery Co, KY Tax List: David, Jonathan Kincaid 1800 Montgomery Co, KY Tax List: Andrew, Archibald, David, John and Thomas Kincaid David:1810 Montgomery Co, KY census 358-17 - 0 0 1 1 1 * 0 2 1 0 0 - Was one of his daughters named Mary? I think John (not Archibald's son) moved to Decatur Co, IN about 1831: 1810 Montgomery: 379-42 - 1 2 0 1 0 * 3 0 0 1 0 I think Thomas is the unknown Thomas: 1810 Montgomery: 361-23 - 1 1 0 1 0 * 0 1 1 0 0 or 374-22 - 1 1 0 1 0 * 1 0 0 1 0 (one m Mary Kincaid 3-3-1800) Archibald: 1810 Montgomery Co, KY censes: 354-22 - 0 2 0 0 1 * 0 1 0 1 0 If this census is correct, Archibald's wife would have been born after 1765. The 1790 household has four males born before 1774 including Archibald and Andrew. Possibilities - the census is not correct, Archibald had a wife before Janet, Janet died and he married again. I think the 2 males 10-16 in the household are sons George born 1780-90 and William born about 1793-94. The daughter 10-16 is said to be Martha b1794-1800. Martha is said to have married Richard Stone. Richard Stone is in the 1810 Montgomery Co census page 354-13: 3 1 0 1 0 * 2 0 0 1 0. If this is the correct Richard and Martha, both would have been born 1770-1790 and married about 1795 in PA or KY. That would make Martha one of the unknown older daughters of Archibald and Janet. They are not found in 1820, so the ages cannot be checked. I think the female 10-16 in Archibald's household may be ward Polly Heaton rather than daughter Martha. George and Polly are in the 1840 Greene Co census page 70-6. He is age 50-60, she is age 40-50. They are not in the 1850 census. Archibald's son William married Polly Small and Barbara Neal. William paid tax on land in Bath County through 1835. I have not found them in 1840 or 1850. Nor have I seen the actual land records in Greene Co,IL, but it looks like William may have bought land but the deed was given to Barbara. In 1860 Greene Co, IL, page 929-2078, Barbara is listed with son Archibald. Family 2079 is headed by John Heaton 37, bPA (1812). Judy, You wrote that Archibald Kincaid of Montgomery/Bath counties in Kentucky was the guardian of Polly Heaton. Who were her parents? I don't find a Heaton family in the 1810 and 1820 censuses for Montgomery and Bath counties of KY. If Archibald Kincaid was her guardian, then the George Kincaid who married Polly was the son of Andrew/Martha or son of Archibald/Janette? George Kincaid was in the 1830 Greene County, IL census. He was next to James Kincaid and William T. Kincaid---all of the Kincaids a. 40-50. Just above them in the 1830 Greene Co, IL census were Andrew Hamilton a. 50-60 (married Elizabeth Kincaid--the census shows 1 F a. 50-60) and Thomas H Hamilton a. 20-30, 1 M under 5 and 1 F a. 20-30. George Kincaid, 1830 Greene Co, IL census: Males: 2 under 5; 2 a. 5-10; 1 a. 10-15; 1 a. 40-50 Females: 1 a. 5-10; 1 a. 10-15; 1 a. 15-20; 1 a. 30-40. The 1830 Greene County, IL census shows a Heaton family----Orange B. Heaton, born in Thetford, Orange County, Vermont. Was he a relative of Polly Heaton? Information about Dr. Orange B. It doesn't look like George/Polly Heaton has anything to do with the family tracked by these censuses. F. Samuel B. Kincaid age 41 b VA with Nancy age 39 KY, William 19 KY, Mary E 16 KY, Johanna 12 KY, Martha A 9 KY, Malinda E 6 KY, Charles T 3 KY and Sarah J 2/12 KY In 1850 Nicholas Co. there are 2 Kincaids not close to Samuel and Willis. John age 36 KY with Pamela age 31 KY, William 6 KY, Andrew 4 KY, Polly 1 KY and an aged George couple b in NC who could be Pamela's parents. James age 36 KY with Eliza J age 25 KY, Ann 8 KY, Alice 7 KY, Susan 2 KY, John W. 1/12 KY Either one of these could be the missing male. Or the missing male could have died or left the area. The unknown daughter should have married sometime in the 1830's if she followed normal patterns. Anyone know anything about any of the families in these censuses? Are there any stray (non A & A) Montgomery Co. KY Kincaids that could be children to George C. Kincaid & Johannah Baldwin? Since Johannah's father was in Montgomery Co. before 1805, the 1802 Howe marriage between George & Johannah Morris Baldwin appears to be that of George Cambell Kincaid, son of Thomas/Hannah. It looks like after the wedding they returned to Muddy Creek in Greenbrier Co. VA until 1809 when they sold out and moved to KY. According to Randy's March 27, 2005 post a George appears in the 1810 Montgomery Co. KY Census p356 Line 16 1 m under 10 (b 1799-1811) 1 m 26-44 (b 1765-1784) 2 f under 10 (b 1799-1811) 1 f 16-25 (b 1783-1794) The adult female is consistent with Johannah's reported birthdate of 1784. George 1st appears with Thomas/Hannah, Thomas, Francis, Samuel, and John on the tax roles in Greenbrier Co. VA on Arpil 17, 1795 which means a birth year around 1774. This is consistent with the above adult male. Three children under 10 is consistent with an 1802 marriage date. Can this family be found in 1820? Johannah reportedly died prior 1869. This means she may be in the 1850 and 1860 censuses with or without George. I wonder if this was a relative of Admiral Kinkaid. His name was Kent Kinkaid. 26 May 1998 The Associated Press Kent D. Kincaid Teens arrested in shooting of off-duty officer HOUSTON (AP) - Three teens have been arrested and charged in the fatal shooting of an off-duty Houston police sergeant on Friday night, authorities said. Houston Police Sgt. Kent D. Kincaid was shot when he tried to question a driver he thought had thrown something at his windshield. Police now believe the object was actually a slug from a .25-caliber handgun. Anthony Haynes, 19, of Missouri City, and Timothy Reese, 18, of Houston, were arrested in Haynes' truck late Sunday night in northwest Houston, police said. A 16-year-old from Houston was arrested separately. Investigators believe Haynes is the shooter. He was jailed on one count of capital murder and two counts of aggravated robbery, police said. Reese and the juvenile each face one count of aggravated robbery. The robbery charges stem from three assaults earlier Friday night. At a press conference Monday, Harris County Sheriff Tommy Thomas indicated that the key break in the case was a tip from a man who had been harassed by Haynes and Reese in the neighborhood where the shooting occurred. Asked whether the suspects expressed remorse about the shooting, Thomas said, "They were remorseful for the fact they got caught." Sheriff's Sgt. Robert Black said the 40-year-old Kincaid and his wife, Nancy, were driving about a block from their house around 11:15 p.m. Friday when their Jeep was hit by an object that appeared to come from a passing truck. Black said Kincaid turned his vehicle around and followed the pickup for several blocks. He said the truck stopped, and Kincaid got out and began approaching the driver's side of the truck. Authorities say that Kincaid told the truck's occupants he was an off-duty police officer. He was shot once in the head, and the pickup sped away, Black said. Kincaid, a 13-year veteran, died shortly after arriving at Hermann Hospital. Houston Police homicide Capt. Richard Holland said Kincaid's widow expressed relief at the arrests. Services for Kincaid will be today at Bear Creek United Methodist Church in Houston. He will be buried Thursday in Stockton, Kan. http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/rooks/moreobits2.html K.D. KINKAID May 23, 1998 Sgt Kinkaid and his wife were riding in their truck and Sgt Kinkaid was off duty (out of uniform). As they drove past an on-comming vehicle, an obejct struck the widshield of the truck. Sgt Kinkaid turned around and followed the other vehicle. The other vehicle stopped and Sgt Kinkaid exited his truck and approached the driver's side. Kinkaid identified himself as a police officer and proceeded to question the suspects in the vehicle. One of the suspsects shot Officer Kinkaid and they fled the scene in the vehicle. Sgt Kinkaid died from the gunshot wound a few days later. The suspects were later arrested and confessed to the murder. They had been out robbing motorists just proir to shooting Sgt Kinkaid. When Sgt Kinkaid identified himself as a police officer he was shot because the suspects believed Sgt Kinkaid knew about the robberies that had committed, which he did not. The object that had hit Sgt Kinkaid's windshield was a bullet fired by the suspects. http://members.tripod.com/~Stacy_P/officerdown.htm

Richard, Living in the twin cities and having 2 Kincaid's available, 1 in Bloomington and 1 in St Paul, I highly recomend them if you have one close by. I contacted them some time ago and learned that they are headquartered out of Seattle, Washington. There are appoximately 9 or 10 affiliated restaurants located across the US including Hawaii. I am a direct descendant of William M. Kincade, b.1829-d.1903, born in Ohio, (according to the 1900 census). William was married to Mary Elizabeth Johnson, b1855-d.? (born in Indiana). They were married in Shelby Co. IN, June 10, 1877, according to online info. We know that William Kincade is buried in the Viney Creek Cemetery, Barry Co. MO. We don't know where or when his wife, Mary Elizabeth was buried. Their first two children, John E, and Stephen were born in Indiana, according to the same census, but the next three, Emery F., Albert L., and Mary, are listed as being born in Kansas. Emery Francis Kincade was born Nov. 17, 1884, and married Cora Florence Britton, on May 26, 1907, in High, AR. Cora Britton was born Sep.16, 1887. Emery died on June 28, 1949, at Drumright, OK. Cora Britton Kincade died on March 26, 1968, in Drumright, OK. Emery and Cora are both buried in the North Cemetery, Drumright, OK. Anyone with any information about William M. Kincade or Mary E. Johnson Kincade, can email me and it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Nancy Kincade Haley
Hi James, To test your Kincaid lineage using DNA, the best way is the Y DNA test which is for those whose surname is Kincaid or another spelling of Kincaid since the Y DNA passes from father to son. We have around 130 who are currently in the Kincaid Surname DNA Project who have done the Y DNA test. We also have a few what have done the maternal DNA test but it would not be of any benefit on your Kincaid ancestors. If you can find one of your mother's male Kincaid cousins or their male descendants, they might be willing to do the Kincaid test. We have several in the project who have done this. We also have several who have shared the costs of the test between several family members. For in-depth information go to www.familytreedna.com where you can read about all the various tests available. The current costs of new Kincaid Group Y DNA tests (and should be the same for other surnames) are: 12 marker $ 99 25 marker $148 37 marker $189 recommended 67 marker $269 There is no discount for new orders on this special promotion, just upgrades to a higher number of markers. Greetings from Big Bear Lake, California, We just want to remind everyone that the 25% off special by Family Tree DNA will end June 30th. Your DNA team is hoping for some 12 and 25 marker participants to take advantage of the offer. Some 37 marker participants will also benefit with an upgrade to 67 markers. We are enjoying the cool here at around 8,000 feet elevation with our daughter's families for a week. I find no Kincaid's of any spelling in the local phone directory.....even checked Kyn's. I guess we are still a minor surname which is an advantage in tracing lineage. Have a great weekend! Don W. Kincaid # 1427
