    1. Re: [KINCAID] David d 1795 Bourbon Co. KY
    2. I use to work with a James B. Kincaid who descended from James and Elizabeth Church Kincaid. You will also find this James and Elizabeth living in Franklin County, Tennessee. James B. died before he could prove who the father of James was. Using the date of marriage for David and Patsy Shrygley in Bourbon County, KY James would have been too old to have been his child. Or, using the Census records of 1800 and 1810 it does not appear that David had 3 older sons, but just two. However, There is folklore that there were three brothers that came to Lawrence County, TN one was David Marion Kincaid Jr, one was Landon and perhaps James would have been the 3rd. His parents could also be Hopson Kincaid that was living in Franklin County, TN. You will notice that Amon and the other descendants of James and Elizabeth Church match up with that family as well. **************Get the scoop on last night's hottest shows and the live music scene in your area - Check out TourTracker.com! 3. Anyone have any information concerning Charles L. Kincaid born about 1803 in Kentucky. He is recorded living in Mount Pleasant, Scotland County of Missouri in 1850 census. Along with his wife and children. Now in 1860-1870 their is a Charles L. Kincaid/Kinkead recorded living in Tulare County of California. I am trying to see if they are the same person. Pennie Eiben

    2. Norman Kincaide
    3. Dear Kincaid-Listers: Sixth Pennsylvania Battalion was raised under authority of a resolution of Congress, dated January 4, 1776:  That an additional battalion be raised in the county of Cumberland, in the Colony of Pennsylvania, to consist of the same number of men and officers, and to have the same pay and allowance, as the other raised in the said Colony.”  Six companies were to be raised in Cumberland and two in York County, according to subsequent arrangement.  Col William Irvine commanded the 6th Battalion engaged at Trois Riviere (Three Rivers) consisting of 741 men in aggregate in conjunction with the 2nd Penn. Battalion attempted to halt the British pursuit of American forces after the failure to take Quebec.  After the battle the 6th Battalion mustered 486 rank and file under Lt. Col. Hartley, at Crown Point, Col. Irvine having been captured.  On Nov. 29, 1776 the 6th Battalion had a total of 503 men.  A return of the 6th from Oct. 20, 1776, Capt. McClean’s Company had 2 sergeants, 2 drum and fife, 35 privates fit for duty, 15 sick and present, 6 absent, five in command.  Among those captured: Col. Line.  Pennsylvania in the War of the Revolution, Battalions and Line, 1775-1783, Vol. 1, pp. 167-171.               Samuel Kinkaid was a private in Capt. Moses McClean’s Company of the 6th Pennsylvania                 Battalion and marched with the Battalion to Three Rivers and survived the engagement as he is                 present for roll between Oct. 1, 1776 and Nov. 28, 1776.  Nothing more is known of his                     service.  He died sometime in April 1779.  His will indicated that he was a single male but had a             brother John and sister, Mary, cousin Michael and his son, Samuel.  He had willed a total of 250             acres, 100 acres near Pittsburgh on Petters Creek to his cousin Samuel.  A hundred acres to his             sister, Mary and 50 acres to his brother John.   1776    Samuel Kinkaid, private, Roll of Captain Moses McClean’s Company of Col.             William Irvine’s 6th Penn.  Battalion.   Pennsylvania in the War of the Revolution,             Battaions and Line, 1775-1783, Vol. 1, p. 190. 1776    Samuel Kinkad, [000004] private, in Capt. 3. I have been working with Sally Standley on a vetting post taking 11207 back to James/Elizabeth Church. On the 1850 Lewis Co. TN census James says he is 53 and was born in KY. On the 1860 census he says he is 65 and b in TN. Lewis Co. TN is right next to Maury Co. TN. #37382 shows a line movement into Maury Co. TN from Bourbon Co. KY. Is there any possibility that James/Elizabeth Church belongs with David's family? Could David's wife have been pregnant or just given birth when David died or are any of his sons old enough to have a child b c1795-7? What is known about the families of his children? Both lines are in Group A 1-b. Besides the mutation to 12 at marker 26 (DYS 460) 37382, vetted to David, has 1 addition mutation at fast moving marker 33 (DYS570) and 11207 (Sally's cousin) has mutations at fast moving marker 32 (DYS 576) and fast moving marker 34 (CDYa). No one else in A 1-b shares their extra mutations so they may have occured downline from their common ancestor. If paperwork were to show a connection, I don't think the mutations would be a stumbling block. 3. Debby, dates and places are a big help when asking if anyone knows about your Kincaids. There are so many with the same given name that it is difficult to tell who you are interested in without a time frame and location. I don't know of a "master" Kincaid list. Individual lines have been explored and direct descendents may be known by individual researchers. The DNA project helps us know which lines are connected to which other lines but most often the link has not been found. Many lines are represented by list members but there are many other lines without a current list researcher. With specific information you are more likely to find possibilities of connection or at least people who are researching the same geographic area in the same time period. 3. K-listers whose plans for a stop on the auld sod this summer have been stifled by gas prces and currency exchange rates may be somewhat sated in their desire for a taste of same in the popular soft drink IRN-BRU, (banned by the Clinton FDA for containing red dye and not pardoned by Bush . . . yet) by a Coca-Cola product available in some markets called "FRESCA Black Cherry Citrus." The similarity in taste is amazing. It is sugar-free but you can always add a Mary-Poppins spoonful if you like. I for one shall only be happy when I can have my diet IRN-BRU without having to go there and get it (or pay _through the nose_ for a Barr-approved, American imitation). Like most Kincaid ilk, I HAVE the appropriate brain bandwidth to drink B and taste A. Thank the good Lord that Tennent's is available in high-end beer stores here, albeit imported and pasteurized. (BTW, when in Glasgow, take the brewery tour!!!) I wonder whether County Tyrone in N.I. has a native brew that we six-generation-removed expats could patronize? Dick Kinkead 2562

    2. Norman and other listers, Rootsweb only uses plain text to print all messages. If a timeline etc. is in a rich text format, Rootsweb always and automatically converts it to plain text. This results in much of what we send looking like gobbledy gook. AOL automatically defaults mail composition to html, and if I want to send something relatively fancy, I have to right click my mouse and then click on "Compose as plain text". I have no clue how other servers operate, but if you use plain text then you can fix it up so it is in a presentable or readable format. And then Rootsweb will pass it on just as you send it. Sorry for the problems. Ruth Cherecwich In a message dated 7/12/2008 7:50:55 P.M. Much speculation has been spread across the net over the years, about the maiden name of Ruth, wife of Clingan Kincaid, son of Thomas Kincaid and Hannah Clingan. Perhaps this will help add a little more certainty to the theory that her name was Green. I found the Missouri Death Certificate my GGG Grandfather, Rufus Morgan Kincaid, on the Secretary of State's database. I am including the link to this site below. 1. [KINCAID] Sue Re: Joining The Kincaid Project
    2. Sue, I'm learning that it has to be a male Kincaid in order to do the DNA. Is there any way for a non-male lineage to plug in? My great grandfather was the last male Kincaid for our family line, but I would be interested to know which line/group of Kincaids we do come from. 3. The tests are done on the Y chromosome, so yes it must be a male who is a direct line descendent of a Kincaid. To find a possible participant you need to find out the names of your great grandfather's sons and see if you can follow one or more of their lines down to a living male who might be willing to do the test for you. It is hard to know what suggestions to give you for doing this without knowing more about your ggrandfather. Suggestions very depending on when he lived so dates are important. Could you tell me what you know about him?
