    1. [KINCAID] Fw: [R1b1c_U106-S21] FTDNA DNA Day Sale Big Y-700 Orders Status
    2. Don Kincaid
    3. We are looking forward to several Kincaid Big Y 700 results but it may be a while before they are all in. I just received an note from FTDNA saying they will be sending me a new dna kit since the Big Y 700 test requires a big sample and assume others will be getting the same message. I do like Charles Moore email below.  Don Kincaidkit 1427 ----- Forwarded Message ----- From: Charles Moore [email protected] [R1b1c_U106-S21] <[email protected]>To: R1b-U106 Forum <[email protected]>Sent: Wednesday, April 24, 2019, 12:20:49 PM MSTSubject: [R1b1c_U106-S21] FTDNA DNA Day Sale Big Y-700 Orders Status   As a result of the FTDNA DNA Day Sale, which ends tomorrow (4/25), the R1b-U106 Project now has over 800 Big Y-700 orders. About 600 of these are from among our 1900 members with Big Y-500 results. When the new results come in this summer, the 600 “upgrades” will effectively reduce those with only Big Y-500 to about 1300 vs the 800 with Big Y-700.. The Big Y-700 results that have been coming in are having the effects of discovering more recent clades at the ends of the branches; increasing the numbers of singleton SNPs remaining on individual testers’ more recent lines of descent (waiting for someone closer on the line to match them); and also discovering new intervening clades higher up the branches. The FTDNA Big Y Block Tree, based on Alex Williamson’s Big Tree, is doing a good job of showing the branching structure closest to the testers of all FTDNA Big Y testers. You do have to look closely to see where the ancestors of those near you on the Block Tree are from, but this important information is there. FTDNA has said that they fully intend to make incremental improvements to the Block Tree. We’ve never been in better position to gain a clearer image of what other families our own families are most closely related to, and where they’re from. The Big Y-700 test also has the potential to help us branch our ancestral families, whenever records are unable to link us to our surname matches. Yeeha! 2. Barbara Van Hout
    3. Of possible interest: The Townsley sisters who married Archibald and Andrew Kincaid had a sister named Agness. Their father was William Townsley, but their mother's name seems to be unknown. TOWNSLEY, WILLIAM, Teboyne. April 8, 1795. June 2, 1795. Wife (no name). Daus. Janet Kincaid, Agness Innes, Martha Kincaid, Elizabeth McCraken, Eleanor McCree, Margart McMillen and Joanna Townsley. Sons Thomas, John and George Townsley. Exs: George McMillen and William Martin. Wit: Abraham Thomas, Martin Motzer, William Colwell. I’ve relied on online sites as well as the informative discussions on this list that dealt with my Nancy. At one point, Andrew was pretty much eliminated as a possibility….but Archibald is still in question. I’m currently trying to eliminate John Jr., son of John the merchant of Carlisle, as a candidate….I would like to know when he left for NC, and if he left a will. When he died his wife was listed as Anna….what happened to Elizabeth??? Since DNA isn’t an option for me I just need to continue searching old records for clues. > On Mar 28, 2019, at 2:12 PM, Barbara Van Hout <[email protected]> > wrote: > > Nancy could have been a daughter of Archibald or Andrew Kincaid, who > married the Townsley sisters. 1. [KINCAID] Re: Nancy (Agnes) Kincaid Linn in PA
    2. Mary Lu Keef
    3. Due to family health issues I was never able to return to PA….especially Cumberland Co. > On Mar 28, 2019, at 2:12 PM, Barbara Van Hout <[email protected]> wrote: > > Nancy could have been a daughter of Archibald or Andrew Kincaid, who married the Townsley sisters. 2. Barbara Van Hout
    3. Nancy could have been a daughter of Archibald or Andrew Kincaid, who married the Townsley sisters. I looked for a wedding date for these brothers, and it appears to have been before Nancy was born. That would also work out because William Linn, brother of Rev. John Linn, bought land next to Archibald and Andrew Kincaid. -----Original Message----- From: Mary Lu Keef Sent: Thursday, March 28, 2019 11:52 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [KINCAID] Re: Nancy (Agnes) Kincaid Linn in PA Thank you, Barbara. 2. Mary Lu Keef
    3. Thank you, Barbara. I appreciate your follow-up. Nancy was born 1774-1775….and James of West Pennsborough was taxed as a freeman in 1774 and 1775. This would make him an unlikely candidate for Nancy’s father. I guess I will just have to be content with the knowledge that she is probably connected to one of the Kincaids in Cumberland County. > On Mar 27, 2019, at 11:05 AM, Barbara Van Hout <[email protected]> wrote: > > Perry County, PA was created from northern Cumberland County in 1820. 1. [KINCAID] Re: Nancy (Agnes) Kincaid Linn in PA
    2. Barbara Van Hout
    3. Perry County, PA was created from northern Cumberland County in 1820. The Centre Presbyterian Church was located in Cumberland County when the Kincaids were married by Rev. John Linn. So I looked at the 1790 Federal Census for Cumberland County, PA and found William Linn (Martha Scott) with a large family. Also the Kincaid/Kinkead families in this census are shown in the same area as your William Linn family. Name: William Linn Home in 1790 (City, County, State): Hopewell, Newton, Tyborn, and Westpensboro, Cumberland , Pennsylvania Free White Persons - Males - Under 16: 2 Free White Persons - Males - 16 and over: 4 Free White Persons - Females: 7 Number of Household Members: 13 The Kincaid families were Andrew with 22 members, so this must have been Andrew and his brother Archibald. Name: Andrew Kinkade [Andrew Kincade] Home in 1790 (City, County, State): Hopewell, Newton, Tyborn, and Westpensboro, Cumberland , Pennsylvania Free White Persons - Males - Under 16: 8 Free White Persons - Males - 16 and over: 4 Free White Persons - Females: 10 Number of Household Members: 22 Also on this census was Jean Kincaid, widow of George Kincaid with 2 females. Was this their daughter Mary? Name: Jean Kinkaid Home in 1790 (City, County, State): Hopewell, Newton, Tyborn, and Westpensboro, Cumberland , Pennsylvania Free White Persons - Males - 16 and over: 1 Free White Persons - Females: 2 Number of Household Members: 3 A third family was John Kinkead, all males and one female, probably his wife? Name: John Kinkade Home in 1790 (City, County, State): Hopewell, Newton, Tyborn, and Westpensboro, Cumberland , Pennsylvania Free White Persons - Males - 16 and over: 8 Free White Persons - Females: 1 Number of Household Members: 9 The fourth Kincaid family was James, with 2 females and 5 males. This could have been the family of your Nancy/Agness. I don't know anything more about this James Kincaid family. Name: James Kinkaid Home in 1790 (City, County, State): Hopewell, Newton, Tyborn, and Westpensboro, Cumberland , Pennsylvania Free White Persons - Males - Under 16: 4 Free White Persons - Males - 16 and over: 1 Free White Persons - Females: 2 Number of Household Members: 7 -----Original Message----- From: Mary Lu Keef Sent: Tuesday, March 26, 2019 4:07 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [KINCAID] Re: Nancy (Agnes) Kincaid Linn in PA William Linn and Nancy Kincaid are my 3rd g-grandparents through their son, John Linn and Jane McKenzie Linn. > On Mar 26, 2019, at 3:46 PM, Barbara Van Hout <[email protected]> > wrote: > > > > -----Original Message----- From: Barbara Van Hout > Sent: Tuesday, March 26, 2019 3:44 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [KINCAID] Re: Nancy (Agnes) Kincaid Linn in PA > > No, I have nothing about Hannah. 2. Mary Lu Keef
    3. Thank you for your response, Barbara. Nancy was born about 1773 so could not be a daughter of Widow Kincaid, thought to be the mother of Andrew and Archibald. Mary was listed as a widow in 1763. I’ve also explored the possibility that Nancy could be the daughter of one of the brothers, but have found nothing to support that connection. As I read through your information on John Linn from Genealogy Magazine, I noticed that they listed three marriages for William Linn. I have Nancy Kincaid and Margaret James, but this is the first I have seen any reference to a Hannah Laughlin. Do you know any details about Hannah? Thank you.
