    3. Norman- The "Isaac(k)" referred to in my gggggf David Kinkead's will was his oldest son by his second wife, Elizabeth McCarty: Isaac Kinkead b. 1804 in (prob. Belmont Co.) OH, d. 1877 in Vinton Co., OH. I've been trying to coordinate the info from your timelines (vintage 2002) and the DNA results. Progress is slow. Thanks for all your help. Kincaid by searching at this location: http://usgwarchives.net/pa/pafiles.htm I thought that this John W. Kincaid was descended from William Kinkead of Pencader Hundred, New Castle County, Delaware. But his father, Isaac, is not in the estate paper of William Kinkead or his wife Sarah. So this must be a different William Kincaid in New Jersey. This of particular importance of Dick Kinkead, since there is an Isaac Kinkead in David Kinkead's Will, of Oxford Township, Guernsey County, OH. Sincerely Norman Kincaide 1796 John W. 2. Ken, there is a possibility if the "John R. Kincaid" could actually br John A (Adams) Kincaid, who was married to a Susan Jones and had a son I only know as Marcus from the 1860 census(and right agae). I know this John Adams Kincaid is the son of John Kincaid and Anna Gregory of york county SC. If your info for John R. is only from Joseph Marcus' death certificate, consider that it could be wrong. Many, but not all, of the Kincaids of Gaston are related to this line. We can connect this line nicely. Bruce ---- Ken Boone <ancestor@bellsouth.net> wrote: > My great uncle James A. 3. Norman, Culpepper Co. was pulled from the northern part of Orange Co. in 1748 and included what is now Madison Co. until 1792-3. Albemarle (created 1744 from Louisa and Goochland Cos.) south of Orange Co. would be the closest Kincaids I know about. The Albemarle/Augusta Kincaids appear to have arrived at an earlier time period than this group. It is a bit curious that 1st generation John Kinkade came to the colonies about 1750 but his (son?) James came to VA about 1788. From the census it looks those who were not born in the midwest were born is PA not VA. I am wondering if the inheritance was through a Kincade settlement or perhaps came to Kincades through marriage. Perhaps Nancy Taylor's family? 3. The two Kincaids listed below as being from Hartford, Washington County, NY has opened up an exciting new line of research for me. It seems that these two Kincaids were brothers who are said to descend from a David Kincaid of Londonderry, Ireland who was born about 1695. Actually, there were three brothers here. In John's household was a brother Alexander who died in 1806. John also died in 1806. James is said to have married a Margaret McCoy and it was his family that continued in the area. I am a bit frustrated in that there appears to be more earlier information available but I do not have access to the sources for this information. They are: McCoy Material, Etc. 3. Dear Mary, I posted some of the early information from Ben Dixon's book on: Date: Mon, 18 Feb 2008 11:51:04 -0500 I have copied and pasted it here: Sincerely Norman Kincaide Dear Kincaid-listers here is what I have extracted from Ben Dixon's book of the earliest Kinkades of his line. I still have been unable to connect this line with any Pennsylvania line. Statements below indicate a Virginia connection. Perhaps the Virginia folks can shed light upon this or see some connection that I have been unable to perceive. I have added 1880 census records for Andrew Kinkade & Secrest Kinkade, sons of David Kinkade and Rebecca Osborn and Eleazer Kinkade, son of James Kinkade and Nancy Taylor. Sincerely Norman Kincaide Memory Notes of the Doyen By Charles Andrew Kinkade I visited Aunt Elisabeth in June 1915, at Rose Hill, Iowa. Uncle Seek had been dead about a year; was 85 when he died. Aunt Elisabeth was 81. I got the Spillman history from her. She never referred to notes, but gave me names and children's names from memory. Uncle Seek and my father, E.S. Kinkade had only about six months difference in their ages. But each claimed the other was the oldest! "The name of Grandfather John Kinkade and Grandmother Polly are familiar to me. But I had forgotten about them. . . . There is a break in the history of the Kinkades, of their residence in Virginia. I had thought that our Kinkade ancestors were Virginians. I heard my father say they lived quite a length of time in Virginia; also about a large tract of land left them there. I don't know who originally owned the land; perhaps grandfather's father, David Kinkade, or someone farther back." Statement of Aunt Elisabeth Kinkade, wife of Secrest Kinkade below. But grandfather (Andrew) wanted to own it, and he once made a trip to Virginia to see about it, and to learn what it would cost to get the land back. He offered each of the ten heirs $30.00 for their share. They refused to sell for less than $300.00. He thought that was all it was worth, and didn't buy. I don't know how much there was of it, but understood it was a large mountain place, away from market. Aunt Elisabeth told me that according to Uncle Secrest, the land was in Culpepper County, VA. 3. Mary, I'm slowly incorporating the Ben Dixon book information into my timeline, but I have been putting it into a separate file as well and comparing it with the rest of my data to try to find commonalities with other lines. The early record is too vague to match them up with any other lineage.  A DNA sample would help greatly but I understand that is not a possibility at this time. Sincerely Norman Kincaide

    3. Norman, I was very interested to see your message July 28 with the data from the Ben Dixon book and the old email message from Diana Kincaid. Is the information in the Ben Dixon book available where one could read it on the internet or any other place? I have known of the book for some time but wasn't certain if my line is in it or not. The Joseph Kinkade (in Diana's message) who married Sarah Maring in my ancestor (you and I have corresponded about them in the past). Diana Kincaid and I exchanged our information probably about 10 years ago, but I have lost contact with her. Do you know if anyone has had contact with her recently? Going on down through your message to the last paragraph where you mentioned Edward being born in 1857 before Andrew Kinkade married Harriet Scott in 1865 -- is there any chance someone mistyped the date of marriage as 1865 when they meant 1856 -- just a thought. Also, you'll note that Edward Leander Kinkade was not the only Leander -- Joseph and Sarah named their first son Leander Marion Kinkade. Mary Hart

    3. Hi, Mary.  The census information matches the Ben Dixon dates and pretty much precludes Edward Leander Kinkade being the son of Andrew Kinkade (born 1840) and Harriet Scott (born 1844) and he probably would have followed his father to West Virginia if he was their son.  It's also clear from the Ben Dixon record that Edward Leander was the son of Rachel Kinkade out of wedlock; the father is never mentioned.  I have looked for any other cross over information between the two families and I haven't found any.     Sincerely Norman Kincaide ----- Original Message ---- From: Mary Hart <mfhart@grm.net> To: kincaid@rootsweb.com Sent: Thursday, July 31, 2008 4:45:57 PM Subject: Re: [KINCAID] Ben Dixon Book Kinkades Norman, I was very interested to see your message July 28 with the data from the Ben Dixon book and the old email message from Diana Kincaid.. 3. This money is not taxable to an heir unless the whole estate was valued at $600,000 or more. That may change next year (decrease or disappear) as a result of the election. For a living claimant, it's likely the tax was already paid unless the income is interest or dividends in excess of $400. The search term is "UNCLAIMED PROPERTY." We've called in close to $9,000 from the state over the thirty years since my dad died and the ten since mom passed away, mostly forgotten utility deposits, stocks erroneously thought defunct, small account interest, etc. Worth a look in YOUR state.
