    3. I believe it was Thomas Kincaid whose 1st wife was Hannah Vinny. They had a son Vinny who appears in Greenbrier Co. (1812) next to Thomas Jr and I think with Thomas in Ohio. Thomas married Elizabeth Murdock in 1798 so Hannah had died prior to that date. Francis married Nancy Murdock in 1798. Information given by son of Francis's son Thomas confirms that the Francis who lived on Fall Creek was the one who married Nancy Murdock and that they had removed from Greenbrier Co. VA to Indiana in 1819. 3. This is the federal Bureau of Land Management website, which shows early land purchases by the patentee. Matthew Kincaid bought land in Hamilton County, IN in 1837. Thomas Kincade (use this spelling) bought land in Madison County, IN in 1826. Click on the little square to the left of the name, and it says that Thomas was from Hamilton County, Ohio. I didn't find a land purchase for Francis---perhaps he was in Indiana too early to be recorded? --unless the state of Indiana has its own land records. http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/PatentSearch/ Barbara ----- Original Message ----- From: <lewisjo@junct.com> To: <kincaid@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, November 01, 2008 6:46 PM Subject: Re: [KINCAID] Francis Kincaid of Hamilton County, Indiana---1830's > Barbara, > I have believed that Allen is a brother to Mathew who married Elizabeth > Humble, I also believe there are more brothers, as follows: Washington, > James, Allen, Thomas and, of course, Mathew. 2. Barbara, I have believed that Allen is a brother to Mathew who married Elizabeth Humble, I also believe there are more brothers, as follows: Washington, James, Allen, Thomas and, of course, Mathew. They all lived in Hamilton County, Fallcreek Township during the 1840 Census. Mathew/Elizabeth was near Pleasant R. Humble family and the Sarah Humble family. Mathew has 2 males ages 20-30 in the household, I believe this to be Allen and Mathew. Thomas has a male in his household, age 60-70, which I believe to be his father, but not sure on that, as well as a male age 30-40, which I believe to be himself. James and Thomas were near each other, and Washington was near the Vanover family of Enoch M. Vanover, and an Asa? H. Vanover. I still have not been able to find any type of marriage bond for Mathew and Elizabeth, either in VA, OH or IN. Haven't been able to locate where Mathew or Elizabeth are buried either. And since I can't prove that Francis is Mathew's father, I have not really pursued any further information on Francis, just have made notes on what I have ran acrossed. I seen on someone's GEDCOM file, that Francis, son of Thomas/Hannah Tincher, was born 1773, (which would correlate with the over 50 in 1823), but died in 1826. If that's factual, then, Thomas' older male in the family would not be his father, if Francis is his father. What are your thoughts on this matter? And thank you for your information that you posted, I'm very excited to see this, I've been up against a brick wall on my family passed Mathew, it actually gives me some hope that there is something out there to be found, again...Thank you!!!! 1. [KINCAID] Results for DNA 130207 & 124250
    2. Sue Liedtke
    3. The 3rd panel results for 130207 have been posted. The only variance from the Group A Apparent Ancestral Value in the 13-25 marker range occurs at marker 13 (DYS458) where he has a 17 instead of the AAV 16. This places him in Group A set 1a. 130207 believes descent from Thomas and Eliza Jane Townsend of Fayette Co. WVA. Eliza is the 2nd wife of Thomas b 1829 who m Isabella Campbell in 1849-50. We can follow him in the censuses from 1850 through 1880. On his marriage information for his marriage to Eliza he states his parents were Thomas & Mary Kincaid. Thomas appears with Mary Kincaid age 53 widow in his 1850 census. This is exciting for the Greenbrier/Fayette Co. VA(WVA) Kincaids. The paper trail strongly suggests that this Thomas is the son of Thomas, son of Samuel of the 3 wives and that mother Mary is "Polly" Davis who is the vetted ancestress of 33001 (A-1c) and the likely ancestress of 101753 (A-1a). Of interest also is that 49289's (A-2a) vetted ancestor, who appears in the same 1850 census, married the sister of Isabella Campbell and has long been thought to be a brother to this Thomas. A second line from 49289's ancestor is being sought in order to confirm or isolate the marker 15 nine which places him in set 2. The Greenbrieer Co. area is a large tangle of Kincaids with several families represented. It is through DNA that there is any hope of unsnarling the families. Full results for the 37 marker test ordered by 124250 have been returned. He matches the Group A AAV in all but the following alelles. He has the marker 15 (DYS459b) nine which places him in Set 2. He has the marker 30 (DYS456) 18 which places him in Set 2a. In addition he also has a 16 at marker 22 (DYS 460a) instead of the AAV 15 and a 16 at marker 33 (DYS570) instead of the AAV 17. 51828 (A-2b) also has the 16 at marker 22. 51828 is vetted to David/Lucy McCormick b 1795 of Maury Co. TN. I have no ancestral information for 124250. Sue Liedtke

    1. [KINCAID] How to join Kincaid DNA Project
    2. Don W. Kincaid
    3. To be able to send in your DNA sample you will need to join the Kincaid DNA Project and you can do this by going to http://www.familytreedna.com/public/kincaid/ and filling out the "request to join" form and Family Tree DNA will then send you a kit. The kit will have 2 swabs to use on the inside of your facial cheeks which you will put into the containers and return to Family Tree DNA. You can pay when you fill out the form via a credit card or by check when you mail in the kit. The cost for the Kincaid Y DNA test varies by the amount of markers you want tested. The 12 marker test is a basic test, the 25 marker test provides additional info, the 37 marker test results will be sufficient for you to know which Kincaid Group and set you belong in and is the one we recommend. By joining the Kincaid DNA Project you will automatically get the group discount on pricing which will be on the form you fill out which will ask you to select which test you want and give you the price for it. There are other dna tests available besides the Y dna but it is the most useful. Please take a look at the Kincaid DNA Results chart if you haven't by clicking on the link at the bottom of this email and you will see that most Kincaid DNA participants have chosen the 37 marker test. Also you might find someone on the chart you share a common ancestor with or see where you think you will fit. Don W. 3. K-listers, I'm in Westmoreland Co., PA, looking formy Mary Land Kinkead and David Kinkead. I've found out that they owned a farm up in Mercer County, so am heading up there tomorrow, but today's search produced graves of Andrew Kincaid Esq. at Salem Presbyterian Church in Derry Twp. The Beltzer-Meyer Historical Society (big-time kudos to them) in Greensburg produced this 10 year old transcription of these graves: KINCAID -Andrew, Esqr. 9-28-1751 2-5-1821 69 yrs Revol War vet -Mary 1814 16 yrs -3 stones in a row, beside above, all same shape as above, illegible -George 10-26-1859 79 yrs Stone fallen, in berry patchat top of hill -Name flaked off, beside above, 1814 about 80 years -Jane, wf of George 10-9-1814 62 years -Name illegible, beside above 4-20-1842 23 yrs of "her" life I have photos of these for those interested or related. 1. [KINCAID] New DNA results for 130207
    2. Sue Liedtke
    3. The first (1-12) and third (26-37) panels for 130207 have been returned. He matches the Group A Apparent Ancestral Values at all but 2 markers. At marker 34 (CDYa) he has a 36 instead of the AAV 37. At marker 35 (CDYb) he has a 40 instead of the AAV 39. The 40 at marker 35 appears 6 times within the project. Those having it are scattered throughout the sets so its appearance may or may not have any usable significance in suggesting relationship. The 36 at marker 34 appears in all of set 4 results, once in set 1b (the lack of a 12 at marker 26 precludes him from this set), and once in set 1a (102911 vetted to David/Bathsheba also has this mutatation). Again its appearance may or may not hold any relationship significance. Until the second panel (13-25) is returned he cannot be placed in a Group A set though sets 1b, 1c and 2b are now eliminated as possibilities. I do not have lineage information for this participant. He has ordered a 37 marker test. Sue Liedtke

    3. Tests are being re-run for 130629 so it will be awhile before he is placed in a Group-set. As I have not heard any objections or questions regarding his line to Thomas McDowll Kincaid, I am marking this line as vetted. While there is a possibility using circumstantial evidence that Thomas McDowell could be a grandson of either Archibald or Andrew who married the Townsley sisters, the connection has not been documented. IF tests results match 1263 in A-2b who believes descent from Andrew/Martha Townsley, the possibility becomes much stronger. 1. [KINCAID] New DNA results for 130404
    2. Sue Liedtke
    3. The 13-25 marker panel for 130404 has been received from the lab. On these markers he matches the Group A Apparent Ancestral Values at all markers except 15 (DYS459b) where he has the set 2 nine instead of the AAV ten. This was expected as he claims descent from James Woodburn as does 15550 but it is nice to have confirmation. He has been placed in Group A Set 2a. The only difference in results for 130404 and 15550 occurs at marker 4 (DYS391) where 130404 has the pesky 11 instead of the AVV 12. If both lines can be vetted to James Woodburn, we will have an additional occurance of this mutation being from a parallel (unrelated) incidence. Both 130404 and 15550 share a mutation to 38 at marker 35 (CDYb). Again if both can be vetted to James Woodburn, we will know that he also had this mutation as the lines are from different sons. It will be awhile before the results for markers 36-67 are reported. Along with tests for 124250, 130629 and 31493, the first run failed to yield reliable results so the tests are being run again. This is part of FTDNA's quality control. If they are not absolutely sure of the results they will not post them but will run a second test using the A swab. If results are still not clear, they will then test the B swab. It is frustrating to have to wait longer but it is better the results be accurate when they are returned. Sue Liedtke
