    3. My brick wall for well over 20 years is Andrew Kincaid d 1810 Anthony Creek, Greenbrier Co. VA. He can be traced to 1763 Albemarle Co. VA My major research interest is sorting the early Kincaids of Greenbrier Co, Augusta Co (+dau. Cos) and Albemarle Co. VA. Through DNA we have made great progress but still have a ways to go. We really need tests for the lines from John the Weaver (though son Matthew), James/Jean d 1762 Alb. Co. (we believe his son John/Agnes d in Madison Co. KY), and a provable line down from David/Winnifred (which Don may have found). I would also like another line done from Andrew d 1810's son Andrew/Rebecca. 3. Hi, all. Happy Holidays. I am Bill Kincaid of Ann Arbor, MI, and I descend from Thomas Kincaid (b. c. 1747, Cumberland County, PA, and Hannah Clingan, b. c. 1754, PA). They left PA during the Revolutionary War for York County, SC. Their descendents subsequently moved to TN, (Anderson, Roane, White, and Lincoln Counties). At one time, we thought that Thomas was the son of John Kincaid, shopkeeper of Carlisle, PA, but DNA testing shows this to be incorrect. I'd like to link Thomas with his Kincaid line in PA and before. Cheers. Bill Kincaid Ann Arbor, MI DNA 9736

    3. Great on Dale doing the dna test. You must indeed be Scottish since today is the last day of the Family Tree DNA Holiday Special offer. The 37 marker dna test is normally $149 but on special through today is $119 all US dollars. The 67 marker dna test is normally $248 while special price is $199. There are also 12 marker and 25 marker Y dna tests but we have found the 37 marker test is needed to be able to identify your close dna kin. The 67 marker test provides more info and can be useful in refining your 37 marker results. To order a test kit Go to http://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Kincaid to join or see more info. You can use a credit card to pay for the dna kit. 3. Agreed about Jean and Jane. I assume you are referring to the John Kincaid, son of John Kinkade and Jean Livingstone, who was baptized in Falkirk Parish, Stirling on 19 February 1670. I see no evidence of a connection to the Kincaids of Bannockburn. This seems to be someone jumping on a John who might fit time wise. The evidence is that the John Kinkade who married Jean Livingstone was of the Kincaids of Grange (Abbots) and that he married Margaret Lorn about 24 June 1699. 3. ?I second this method, but bleach very sparingly if at all; the friction and water will break up the moss. At a nearby Wal-Mart or Kroger look among the housewares for a product called SONIC SCRUBBER. I bought one and the accessory brush tip kit (total about $20) which work kind of like a battery-powered toothbrush only the brushes are bigger and more appropriate for cleaning things... like moss out of limestone gravestone grooves. Take LOTS of water in jugs if you don't have access to a pond or a garden hose. Dick K. 2562 A1a -----Original Message----- From: Don W Kincaid Sent: Friday, December 31, 2010 2:31 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [KINCAID] Cemetery headstone cleaning Hello all, Rick Kincaid is planning on doing some restoration work at the Falling Springs Cemetery where several Kincaid folks are buried and asked about a safe way to clean the headstones. Below is Linda Ashley's response to my request for cleaning headstones which we thought might be of help to some on the list. Happy New Year! Don A lady who recently gave a demonstration says she recommends a reasonably soft scrub brush and plain water. She says wet the whole thing down and then start brushing from the top, repeating as often as necessary. Some people use a little bleach in the water, but she says that is hard on both your hands and the stone. A bad case might require it however. If you use bleach, rinse the stone thoroughly after the brushing. That may require a lot of water carrying. Then cut away as much shade as possible and let the sunshine in! My great grandfather Charles Edward Kincaid came from Brockville Ontario Canada. His father was John Byran Kincaide. John was the son of James. James was the son of Archibald Kincaid who came from Bannockburn Stirlingshire Scotland. Archibald was the son of James Kincaid and Janet Manuel. James was the son of John Kincaid and Jane Duncan. The line goes back further, but I would have to start digging out stuff for that. Tammy Tipler-Priolo BASc, PLCGS ======= Email scanned by PC Tools - No viruses or spyware found. This is simply an invitation for everyone to post something about their line and their research interest. One tends to be surprised to learn that there are lurkers here with something of interest to other Kincaid list members. ======= Email scanned by PC Tools - No viruses or spyware found.
