Hi, Sue, I made the connection of Brian's William Kincaid to James Kinkead of West Pennsborough when I still believed his William might be part of the West Pennsborough/ Dickinson Township, Cumberland County, PA Kincaids. With Brian's vetting post indicating several times that William was born in Ireland I have changed my assessment and with the divergence between James W. Kinkead's DNA and Brian's I no longer hold that his William is from the West Pennsborough/ Dickinson Township, Cumberland County, PA. I had not updated that citation to indicate that change. Brian, you are in A-3 which has a distinct variance at marker 30 (DYS 456). Unless you can show that your line had a parallel mutation to 18 at this marker, you will connect with someone in set 3 before connecting with anyone in set 2 so I am confused as to why you are mentioning set 2. Was this a typo? Never thought of myself as a "lurker", just insufficient free time at present to pursue any meaningful research; am descended from Thomas Kincaid, b.1740 Ireland(?), d.1845 Crawford County, Illinois. He is purported to have served as an Orderly Sergeant with Colonial forces at the Battle of Bunker Hill, where his son, Samuel, served as a drummer boy. Will continue to follow these conversations with interest, pending my retirement later this year. I would refer to myself as an interested "amateur" who does not have time at this stage in his life to be an active participant, but I read all postings and have participated in the DNA testing. Ruth C. has been a significant contact point for me in Group C. James Brisbin and I have met twice and he has "filled in" some missing information for me. I will be retiring in the next 2-3 years and I hope to have much more time at that point to dedicate to the family research. We have been to Scotland twice, on our own, most recently in 2005, and we had the opportunity to walk the Kincaid-Lennox castle grounds and briefly visit the Kincaid House Hotel. My vetted lineage is shown below. Robert Bruce Kinkade Long Valley, NJ DNA #35915 1. An error on my part was brought to my attention. The last paragraph should have read: The evidence is that the John Kinkade who married Jean Livingstone was of the Kincaids of Grange (Abbots) and that their son John married Margaret Lorn about 24 June 1699. Don Kincaid # 1427 Kincaid DNA ----- Original Message ----- From: Tammy Tipler-Priolo To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, December 31, 2010 11:26 AM Subject: [KINCAID] My line Hi, I am new to the list. My great grandfather Charles Edward Kincaid came from Brockville Ontario Canada. His father was John Byran Kincaide. John was the son of James. James was the son of Archibald Kincaid who came from Bannockburn Stirlingshire Scotland. Archibald was the son of James Kincaid and Janet Manuel. James was the son of John Kincaid and Jane Duncan. The line goes back further, but I would have to start digging out stuff for that. My brickwall is Thomas Kincaid/Martha Wyatt of Fincastle, TN. Though I beleive that he is the son of Andrew Kincaid/Mary, he is the brother of John Kincaid/Nancy Young of Fincastle, TN. I would like to see a descendent of James Kincaid/Margaret Wyatt and other brothers William, Wyatt, as well as another Descendent of Andrew/Rebecca. Hope all have a happy new year!!!
