I do not know why this is listed like this but it is not correct as far as I know. This James Madison was the son of John Kincaid/Nancy Young. I imagine that the person who added the listing did it incorrectly. I have been to that cemetery and others in the area, as well as several in the area of Fincastle, TN. John Kincaid's brother Thomas Kincaid had a daughter named Nancy Young Kincaid and she married John Major Grimes, so these 2 people could have been confused for the same person, though I do not know where the Smith came from. Yes, if the e-mail is listed on the chart, express permission has been given to do so and there is the expectation that those who wish to may contact the participant directly. Occassionally e-mail addresses change. Don is good about letting me know whenever he discerns a problem but sometimes a current address does not appear on the chart. Any changes that we know about are made on the chart so that the next time it is uploaded the address will be correct. I do urge that any participant with a new address both change it on his FTDNA page and let Don or I know directly that it needs to be changed on the chart. Norman,Peter and Sue, Thanks for the responses and the subsequent correction. I admit I was confused for a while but then realized - just before getting the update - the error. I will consider getting tested. Is it appropriate to contact by email directly the gentleman who was listed (Perry S. Kincade). Found a couple of interesting tidbits on your family. The first is a death notice of one of the sons, Rev. William Morris Kincaid. It states that his father was born in Inverness, Scotland. The other is of a son of James and it states that the family was of a a long military career in Scotland. ***** January 10.-New was received in this city yesterday of the death of Rev. Dr. William Morris Kincaid, former pastor of Central Union Church, who passed away at Charlottee, North Carolin, on the 2nd of January, 1911. At the time of his death he was pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of that City. Doctor Kincaid was born in Utica, New York, about sixty years ago. His father was George Kincaid, a Scotsman from Inverness; his mother was a French Huguenot. His boyhood was passed in Utica, where he was prepared for college in the public schools of the city. After four years' collegiate training at Williams College in Massachusetts, under the great educator, Mark Hopkins, he graduated with honors in 1872. His theological course he obtained at the Baptist Seminary in Rochester, New York, and his first pastorate was at Cortland, New York, from 1875 to 1878. He then went to Rondout, the same State, and served a pastorate there until 1881, when he accepted a call to the First Baptist Church of San Francisco. In 1890 he resigned that position and left the Baptist Church at the same time. In that year he became a Presbyterian and received a call from Minneapolis, where he remained until coming to Honolulu in September, 1898. He was installed as pastor of Central Union Church on the tenth of December of that year, and served here until June, 1906. when he accepted a call from the First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte, a congregation having a membership of nearly 1000. During his residence in Honolulu, Doctor Kincaid became a prominent personage, and his departure was regretted by a large circle of friends. He took a great interest in Hawaiian affairs, and his address at the Mohonk Conference in 1905, was but one of the notable occasions upon which he presented local subjects for the consideration of the Nation. He was credited also with doubling the membership of Central Union Church during his pastorate. The degreee of Doctor of Divinity was conferred upon him by William College in 1904. He was a warm friend of Harry Pratt Judson, president of the University of Chicago, and served as university preacher for that institution last spring. [The Honolulu Times, Honolulu, Hawaii. Vol. IX. No. 5 (1 February 1911), p. 5, cols 2-3. ***** ***** KINCAID, FREDERICK W.--In June, 1841, George Kincaid came to Utica from New York city. He was a direct descendant of a family once prominent in Scotland military history, and was one of the pioneers to California in 1849, where he attained prominence in quartz mining. He returned in 1861 and from that time his life was spent in Utica. He was a Mason of high degree, and for many years was an officer of Utica Commandery Knights Templar, and at one time was its eminent commander. He had four sons and one daughter, all living. He died in 1893. His oldest son, J. C. P. Kincaid, who has spent his life in Utica, was born in 1840 and was for many years a merchant. In 1873 he was appointed United States collector of internal revenue, and served under Presidents Grant, Hayes, and Garfield and a short time under Arthur. He was also for six years a school commissioner of Utica and for four years president of the board. First Lieutenant Frederick W. Kincaid, of the Utica Citizen Corps, Forty-fourth Separate Co., N. G. S. N. Y., his oldest living son, was born in 1867, and has attained a high reputation as an officer in the National Guard. He, with two brothers now deceased, Alrick G. and J. C. P., jr., have with their father been active members of that famous organization. Both great-grandfathers on his mother's side were soldiers of the Revolution and one on his father's side was a veteran of 1812. (p. 240-241) [Oneida County, New York Biographies. Wager, Daniel. Actually I think 26909 is another line. See: Please include me in the DNA Chart. I have not received the results yet, but they are expect to be finalized next week. Is there more you wish/need to know? The furthest back I am able to trace to this point is George Kincade (bd. 1825) wife Margaret (bd. 1831), both from Ireland. They resided in NYC. Now tracing his immigration with some indications his parents were George Kincaid who was of Mullinacross and married Mary Young on _____ at Ballintra, Parish of Drumholm, County Donegal. Their offspring included George Kincaid. He was baptized on 5 February 1825 at Ballintra, Parish of Drumholm, County Donegal. Perry S. Frederick, It would be nice to have another sample from that line. Please consider having your DNA tested. Sure glad to have you post. Nice to see new lines. I believe you are the first Kincaid here I've seen descended from the Utica, New York Kincaids. Tamara here posted a bit on your family as in the Parshall family history. See: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/kincaid/2003-09/1064798155 I suspect you are aware of this source. I assume it is the source of the marriage to Margaret Culbertson. Do you know what your first George did in Utica? Was he a farmer?
