Several cousins and I have been trying to find the origins of the Kimel family in North Carolina for some time. We believe the Kimmel originator of this line arrived in Pennsylvania in the middle 1700's and migrated to North Carolina before 1770. I recently found this quote on a web site of Laura Nuenke: "Leonard Kimmel (39)(40) was born in 1741 in Germany. He died in 1825 in Rumley Township, Harrison, Ohio. History of the Leonard Kimmel Family and Descendants, presents some problems sating Leonard 1733-1825 was born in Stuttgart, Wurttemberg, Germany, but provides neither an identification of sources nor an explantation as to why the Historical Collections of Harrison County and other genealogies say 1741. This record also indicates Leonard had 7 brothers who came to America in 1758. The names are not given but settled as follows: 3 in Pennsylvania, 1 in Massachusetts, 1 in Maryland, 1 in Virginia and 1 in North Carolina." Since one of the brothers supposedly settled in North Carolina, he would be a prime candidate as the originator of our line. Unfortunately Laura Nuenke's email address is not current, and I haven't been able to contact her. Does anyone have information about the brothers of Leonard Kimmel? Dan Kimel
