In the INGLENOOK DOCTOR BOOK (1903), published by Brethren Publishing House--a collection of 19th century home remedies, I found this Kimmel: "NEURALGIA IN THE FACE. 433. --Get whole black pepper and grind fine, put one tablespoonful in three tablespoonfuls of good sour vinegar, and just enough flour to make stick, sprad this on tough paper and lay on the face--eyes and all--and let it dry on. --N J Roop, Warrensburg, MO "Make a plaster of ginger and whisky and apply. --PORTER KIMMEL, Morrill, Kans."
