Allan asked last week if I had gotten any news from Dr. Bill Thompson, who, in the 1970s, copied and reviewed municipal records at Gimbsheim. I recently found him stationed in Hawaii and he promised to find his papers when he visited his home in Virginia in May. Dr. Thompson did go to Virginia in May. But the paperwork will be involved and he plans to work on them and send me copies when he retires in 6 to 8 months. Right now, he is in Germany visiting friends, including Herr Mahlerwein in Gimbsheim. I asked Dr. Thompson to check on a couple of things if he could: see if he could find Jacob's and Philip's manumissions (permit to emigrate) at Alzey, and find what he can on the Kimmel coat-of-arms associated with a Kimmel family in Frankfurt in 1701. --Tim in Fort Wayne ============================
