    1. [KIMMEL] Some Kimmel Records
    2. When my great grandmother died, the special trunk with all the family letters, photos, and secrets fell into the possession of her daughter. When she died, it went to my cousin, who kept it in her garage where it was subject to weather, dust, time, and, eventually, theives. Before the theives got to it, I was able to look in and make copies of some of the treasures. One jewel was a set of three legal sized papers entitled "KIMMEL RECORDS." The people mentioned are members of the family tree of the Kimmels who were living in Neukirchen, State of Germany and cover years in the 1400's to the 1600's. I don't know why the papers were in that old trunk. Are they my ancestors? I don't know... There is a large time gap from then until where I leave off my own research on this side of my family. The "notes" are taken from original records by Rudolph Schafer, No. 45 Hugelstrasse No. Hillstr. Darmstadt, Germany and were translated by Erich von Wagner, Duquoin, IL. Rudolph was putting together a family tree in the fall of 1927. Some of the first names include: Ludwig, Old Hen, Young Hen, Rietz, Henry, Ambrose, Lot, Conrad, Jost, Helwig, Daniel, Eberhardt, Rudolph, Jonas,Balthasar, Caspar Milchoir, and others. If these names sound familiar to anyone, I will be happy to share. Is there a German surname or locality list that I can access to share this information? I can't imagine why they would have this information in the family trunk unless it were family -- or very special. Any suggestions for places to share or knowledge of any ties would be WONDERFUL!
