The information I have on JOHN OLIVER KIMMEL is that he was born 11/20/1814, died 12/14/1908. His wife was Mary Philson Parker, d/o John & Isabel Parker. John Oliver Kimmel, according to my (unproven) records was a son of Jacob Kimmel (1791-1865) and Margaret Scholes (1790-1863). Jacob was s/o John Kimmel M.D. (1760-1840) of Somerset Co. PA and wife Elizabeth Uhrich (married 1787). I don't have parents for her. Dr. John Kimmel was s/o Capt. J. Michael Kimmel 1736-1818 and Esther Asper b 1740. (I believe these are the folks whose house was featured a few years ago in KFN, with a fairly recent photo taken by one of our readers.) I show J. Michael Kimmel to have been born in Darmstadt? Germany (Tim Kimmel would know if that's right), and that he was a s/o immigrant John Philip Kimmel 1695-1777 and Anna Elizabeth Voltz who died in Germany in 1755? I think you can find lots on Dr John Kimmel of Berlin, Somerset Co. PA, as well as J. Michael etc. Like I say, my stuff isn't verified, and Tim's records are always better than mine. However, on my "tour" of Somerset County a couple years ago, I did see the stone in the Berlin cemetery downtown for Dr. John Kimmel. And I may have driven past his old home--I kept finding out that I was past spots I was looking for as I flipped through my Austin Cooper Brothersvalley book. Hope this helps. Jan T
