    1. [KILLOUGH]Notice about Rootsweb Lists
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. This has been received from the Rootsweb administration: Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team We are presently setting up email groups at https://groups.io/. If there is interest in migrating this list to groups.io please respond to this message to that effect ASAP. With heavy hearts, Jim and Di

    1. [KILLOUGH]Help Keep This List Active
    2. Jim Jackson
    3. We just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. A large number of Rootsweb lists have been made inactive due to no messages over a period of time. We want to keep as many lists active as we possibly can and your participation will help toward that goal. If you have a "brick wall" in your family search, send in a message with as much information as you have and let's see if someone may be able to help fill in those blanks. Best wishes, Jim and Di

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: oliverfaver Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.killough/189.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Jane Killlough married Alexander Oliver at Jefferson County, Alabama; she named her first born son, David Killough Oliver. Perhaps, Jane and Alex married on the James Killough Plantation ( now a sub--division of Birmingham). A family cemetery is annotated on the city plat. Although, no markers still exist, I have met neighbors, who were able to guide me the cemetery grounds. All the streets are named Killough: Killough Road, Ave, Circle, Street, etc. James Killough ( - 1833) has one twin brother, Isaac, he is found at Talladega Cnty in 1830 and then pioneered to the Republic of Texas; he and his extended family were killed, save two women, at the Killough Massacre of 1836. Today, a monument ( south of Tyler, Texas ) exists on the site; and is visited by Killough clan, of the area, at annual reunions. I also find at Oglethorpe Cnty ( separated from in Wilkes, Cnty) Georgia ) in Lexington, a will of Issac Killough ( -1795) to wit: 'to Mary Killough, wife of my son, David, one milk cow ) I find a Killough Genelogy, researched by a fellow in west Texas, I can not recall his name at this writing, is published and hard covered (about three inches thick). I find a copy of same at the Dallas, Texas public library. It contains a single line about Alex and Jane Killough Oliver; it enumerates their children .. My kin is Andrew Jackson Oliver ( 1833 Tipton Co, TN - 1919 Harmony, San Saba, Texas. I expect to find ( do not all genealogy researchers ) David Killough ( eldest son of Issac Killough ( -1795 GA ) as the father of Jane Killough Oliver ( 1805 = 1885 ) Cousins, kindly, warn me away if I am in the wrong.
