This has been received from the Rootsweb administration: Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state. Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb. As an alternative to RootsWeb Mailing Lists, Ancestry message boards are a great option to network with others in the genealogy community. Message boards are available for free with an Ancestry registered account. Thank you for being part of the RootsWeb family and contributing to this community. Sincerely, The RootsWeb team We are presently setting up email groups at https://groups.io/. If there is interest in migrating this list to groups.io please respond to this message to that effect ASAP. With heavy hearts, Jim and Di
We just wanted to encourage you all to make use of this list in your family searches. A large number of Rootsweb lists have been made inactive due to no messages over a period of time. We want to keep as many lists active as we possibly can and your participation will help toward that goal. If you have a "brick wall" in your family search, send in a message with as much information as you have and let's see if someone may be able to help fill in those blanks. Best wishes, Jim and Di
Hi there, Diane list admin here. Is there anyone on this list that need any help with research from anybody? There hasn't been much going on with this list for a while! Hoping to hear from you soon. Diane list admin
Looking for information & people researching a James KIELLE (born about 1708 in Ireland & died 1790 in NH) who married a DEBORAH STILES (born about 1706 in Dover NH and died Nov 1788). They had children: John (born 1731 who married Abigail LEIGHTON); Benjamin; James; William (born 1736 died 1813 & married LOIS TOBEY); Samuel (born 1738 died 1815 & married OLIVE LEIGHTON); Moses; Aaron; Ebenezer(born about 1746 & married BETSY TIBBETTS); and James (born about 1740 & died 1801 & may have married ESTHER FOLSOM). Will share info. This family lived in the Dover, Strafford Co., New Hampshire area. Would love to find a direct male descendant who would like to participate in a DNA project too. Contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org Thanks.
The first Killey ancestor for my branch that I have any record of is that of Richard Killey, a joiner by trade, who married Jane Griffith, Liverpool, 1802. Known children are John, Richard, Henry and William. Whilst I have not been able to confirm it, apparently Richard Killey senior was from the Isle of Man. There is a tale that our Killey ancestors were descendant from a family of fishermen. There was a tragic boating accident whereby most were drowned. The younger ones it seems went to Liverpool, Lancaster and Scotland. Other family connections are Gate, Fairclough, Breadner, Bedford and in the case of my late grandfather who married a Mulcare. We have known family in Australia, New Zealand - indeed, I too am from NZ - and a great aunt married Joseph Burgess and moved to New York. There would also appear to be a connection with another Killey family in Canada.
Sorry--must clarify, since I didn't the first time around--The following Killey/Kiley families are not mine--but included in case they belong to someone else. Sorry for any confusion. Kathy English I have on an 1861 Census for Mersea Twp. : Aaron (?) Kiley, farmer, United States, 1836 E. Methodist, age 62 Hannah Kiley, U. Canada, E. Methodist, age 47 Elizabeth, U. Canada, age 13 Sharlotte, age 10 Maria, age 8 Judith A. age 6 John age 3 (all children born in Upper Canada) 1871 Census, division 1, page 27, Essex Co. Copeland, George, age 44, United States, Presp. Scotch, Mason Copeland, Jane age 36 Irish Killey, Alberta G. Manks (Manx?) age 8 Copeland, Georgina (born in January of that year--age indecipherable, not one year of age yet) 1881 Census-- Mersea Twp. Jacob Kiley - Farmer - United States 1847 Methodist age 36 Emma Kiley England age 31 George age 14 Henry age 13 William age 12 Joshuah (?) age 11 Elizabeth age 10 Elzina age 9 Augusta age 8 Emma age 6 (all children born in Upper Canada)
My Killeys were from the Lezayre, Isle of Man--and in Canada (Ontario, Mersea Twp., Essex County) by/before 1841. I have on an 1861 Census for Mersea Twp. : Aaron (?) Kiley, farmer, United States, 1836 E. Methodist, age 62 Hannah Kiley, U. Canada, E. Methodist, age 47 Elizabeth, U. Canada, age 13 Sharlotte, age 10 Maria, age 8 Judith A. age 6 John age 3 (all children born in Upper Canada) Not my Killeys, above--but mentioned in case they belong tosomeone on the list. My Killeys include, from the same 1861 census: Thomas Kieley, farmer, I of Man, 1841 C. of England, age 46 Elizabeth Kieley, U. Canada, C. of England, age 37 John, laborer, age 20 William, laborer, age 17 James, laborer, age 15 Jane, age 16 Alexander, age 10 Robert, age 8 George, age 5 Thomas, age 3 Almerian (?) age 1 1871 Census, division 1, page 27, Essex Co. Copeland, George, age 44, United States, Presp. Scotch, Mason Copeland, Jane age 36 Irish Killey, Alberta G. Manks (Manx?) age 8 Copeland, Georgina (born in January of that year--age indecipherable, not one year of age yet) 1881 Census-- Mersea Twp. Jacob Kiley - Farmer - United States 1847 Methodist age 36 Emma Kiley England age 31 George age 14 Henry age 13 William age 12 Joshuah (?) age 11 Elizabeth age 10 Elzina age 9 Augusta age 8 Emma age 6 (all children born in Upper Canada) All names are as near as I can figure, from the writing on the census page--names might be "Riley", or meant to be, as in my case, "Killey", but spelled instead as "Kiley, Kelley, Kiely," etc. My Killeys were in Canada by 1841, when Thomas (son of Thomas & Elizabeth Killey) married Elizabeth Whittle. William, son of Thomas, was in Michigan, United States, by the 1870 Census, returned to Canada after 1873, and was back in Michigan, United States, by 1898. Another brother, Alexander, was in Michigan, United States, at about the same times as William. Not sure if any of this information helps anyone else, but there it is--just in case. Happy searcing!
