Well I was looking at some vintage letters on ebay and they have a "lot" with all kinds of vintage letters in it. The letter is dated 1907 and is on company letterhead. It has the name E.A.Killgore of Custom Threshing, Gilt Edge Butter, Breeder of Durham Stock" on it. Among other things. If it is yours you should check it out. You just go to ebay and then the actual number is: 380107197415 and you can do a search on it. I thought it might interest someone here. Who knows. Maybe it's yours! I have NOTHING to do with this auction. I am not selling it or buying it and am in no way related to it or the Kilgour or Killgore name. Good luck! Author: twbirney Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.kilgore/1624/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Just thought I would post some information concerning the Kilgore family of Cecil County, MD. I'm Bill Birney, a descendent of the Kilgore family through Rachel Kilgore's marriage to Samuel Burnite in 1810. Then, another marriage in the 1880's between Rachel Burnite and James T. Birney. I was lucky enough to grow up on a little farm across the Big Elk from the 'old home place' as we all generally call the original farm which was lost in the late 1930's. Anyway, a developer has purchased a parcel of approximately 20 acres of ground that, I believe, is a part of the original plantation. In a lengthy search of the land records at the courthouse, I now have a map of "Wallace Scrawl" and a copy of the original land grant. The 20 acres now about to be developed wouldn't draw my interest quite as much as it does if it weren't for one significant fact: there is, on this property, a house that, according to the records, pre-dates 1800. I had always assumed that the family lived on the opposite end of the property within a hundred yards of the Elk. Now, with this new information, I have to wonder if the Kilgore's and possibly the Lassley's had inhabited this other house instead. Likewise, working with a local preservation society, I am attempting to save the house from demolition. In order to do so, I have to prove that it is a significant piece of local history. This house, of stone construction, is, fortuitiously, located on a lot and not in the roadway. If I had the money, I would buy the lot and be done with it. Unfortunately, I'm still in college, majoring in historic preservation, struggling to make ends meet. The foundation of the barn is located in said roadway, so saving it at this late date will be impossible. If anyone has any information concerning this tract of ground, particularly the house in question, I could really use it right now. Also, if anyone would like photo's, feel free to contact me. 3. Hi Stephen, I have looked my data base over and can't find anything that would put her in our line. I am guesstimating that she might be from the Chester Co., PA Kilgore's and I just yesterday made contact with a line that came into NH and then ended up in Bradbury Co., PA or some county like that. Jack matches him in 12 markers so I thought that was interesting. Gail On Tue, Jan 6, 2009 at 7:18 AM, Stephen Hall <stephenkhall@msn.com> wrote: > > Mary, > > Thanks for joining the group. 3. Mary, Thanks for joining the group. There are several people on this board who have extensive knowledge of the Kilgores from MD/PA and OH. As to your specific question, I do not have information about your Samuel. More generally, there is a Kilgore line that comes through (Thomas Kilgore-Rebecca Lasley or Lassley) and his son (Matthew Kilgore b. about 1737 in Cecil Co. Maryland). Matthew had six sons: Thomas (b. 1765), George (b. 1767), Matthew (b. 1770), James (b. 1770, twin of Matthew), William (dec. 1774), John (b. 1777) and Samuel (b. 1780). Note: I am not certain of these dates; they merely appear on documents I have in my file. I am adding the dates mostly just to give you a rough idea of where these people fall on the generational timeline My line comes through Matthew and his son James Armstrong Kilgore (b. in 1801) who moved to Ross County Ohio. You may wish to go to the archives and search. Also, I recall that Kim Tyson had done very nice work concerning the MD/PA Kilgores. I can't put my finger on it now and don't recall where I saw it. You may be abe to find it in the archives or perhaps Gail, the one who seems to know everything about Kilgore matters, has it. Best wishes as you gather further information. 2. Hi Mary, I feel your Samuel Kilgore (DOB 1823, Ohio) must be related to my Matthew Kilgore (DOB c. 1735, MD) Several of his children immigrated to Ohio, especially Chillicothe, and Thomas, DOB 1765 settled in Cabell Co., West Virginia. My line in through John, DOB 23 March 1777 and they stayed in York Co., PA. Other sons that went to Ohio were: George, DOB 23 Aug. 1767; Matthew Lasley, DOB 22 Aug. 1770; James, DOB 22 Aug. 1770, twins; William, DOB 31 Dec. 1774; and Samuel, DOB 2 Jan. 1780. My reference was "History of Ross & Highland Counties, OHIO, 1880". I found this in the Genealogical Library in Minnesota. Matter of fact, my Matthew and wife, Mary, died in Ross Co., Ohio Hope this is of some help to you in your search. Barbara Conway **************New year...new news. 3. Hello, Kilgore cousins! I am new to this group and so glad that I found it! My Kilgore lineage goes as follows: John Wesley Kilgore,DOB 1900, Arkansas, his dad was Eli T. Kilgore,DOB 1857, WVA, his dad was Samuel Kilgore,DOB 1823,Ohio. This is where I am stone walled. Samuel listed his dad as being born in Pennsylvania, but I don't know his name. Anybody out there have any clues or suggestions,or may be related?  My immediate Kilgore family consists of myself and my brother. We were given very little information about our lineage on the Kilgore side. Thanks!, Mary Kilgore Eime

    3. The archives can be found at www.rootsweb.com and then go to mail lists archives either by thread or archives and find the Kilgore-PA archives and you should be able to see them way back. Anyone on this list that wants to participate in the DNA project is more than welcome. It is not just for a few and it is going on with the main Kilgore mail list. Kilgore-l which everyone is invited to participate.
