Ora Jane sent her message to me; because she appears to be unsubbed from the list-though she is receive mail from the list. I'm forwarding her message to the list. Vickie ----- Original Message ----- From: Sawyer Ora Jane<mailto:[email protected]> To: [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> Sent: Friday, September 19, 2008 12:59 PM Subject: List members Vickie .......Know some of you are urging Kilgore listers to submit roll call and Kilgore line. Others may be in same circumstance as I am. Evidently, I was removed from the list because I have not participated in quite some time. I did not know I had been removed because I continue to GET all the rootsweb Kilgore mail. I tried to submit my roll call data and offer of funds to help with the DNA project, but my mail was bounced as a non-member, with offer to hold it until admin. could approve/reject. Others who previously participated in the list may have experienced same situation. I re-submitted earlier this week, and I suppose my letter is waiting on list admin. to let it in or keep it out. That's why I am sending you this letter at YOUR address. I do not know which line of Kilgores may be mine. At this point, I am willing to contribute funds to get some DNA markers on the table for future testing. I figure that as various lines are identified with DNA, it can only help those of us who have hit those brick walls, who may later submit DNA from our male Kilgore relatives. After my husband's sudden death in 2004, I just put genealogy aside because I could not concentrate. In 2007, I moved and much of my information is still in boxes. I have continued to save rootsweb Kilgore info in a computer file as it came in so that I do have a good bit of info on file....and I am still interested in tracking my line past Elijah Kilgore b. c1815-16 in TN (census says parents were born in VA) So far as I am aware, none of the other "cousins" previously on the list have knocked down the brick wall that we constantly ran into because we had no second name or initial for Elijah and were not able to piece together any kind of documentation on his parents or siblings. One time you saw a date in Hugh Kilgore's Bible records (I believe that's where it was) that was a birthdate in 1815, but the name was not legible. Tried to pursue that, but found nothing I could put together at that time. There may have been some "announcement" that I missed when changes occurred in the Kilgore list, and my non-response may have put me off the list. When I continued to RECEIVE all the Kilgore mail, I assumed I was still on the list. May have been a fluke error. Regardless, WHEN someone is named as recipient of the funds, I will be happy to mail a check to be used for DNA testing. Ora Jane (Kilgore) Sawyer Elijah Kilgore b. c1815-16 in TN; d. 28 Apr. 1891 in Ringgold, Catoosa Co. GA; (gg-grandfather) James Alexander G. Kilgore b. 29 Jan. 1843 in Bledsoe Co. TN; d. 1921 Adel, GA (g-grandfather) John Bryant Kilgore b. 20 Apr. 1869 in Monticello, Jasper Co., GA; d. 26 March 1948 Cuthbert, Randolph Co., GA (grandfather) James Lee Kilgore b. 07 Nov. 1901 in Pulaski Co., GA; d. 01, Oct., 1981 Americus, GA; buried East View Cemetery, Cuthbert, GA (father)
Ora Jane, You were subbed with an alltell.net email address and trying to post with an windstream.net email address. The list should now accept the windstream email address.
