I am surprised all you Kilgores do not have one grand tree showing all the Kilgore's. I have one for me and one for my wife. Each tree, when cut and pasted , is 4 ft wide and 10 fr long. I don't have the children on my trees but it would be necessary for the Kilgore tree. Charles R. My daughter did that for her tree (no kids, just direct ancestors). It went from the kitchen, down the hall, circled the living room and ended up back in the hall. Her husband's entire tree fit on one little 8.5 X 11 piece of paper. She couldn't understand why he wasn't interested in genealogy. I suggested that her tree might be intimidating him. She has since taken his back a few hundred years. A friend of mine, Penny, had drew her pedigree. It took me a while to see what was odd about it. She skipped generations and only included her more famous/interesting ancestors. I used to have a large fold out tree that I had added a time line across the bottom. When my kids were studying history, I would whip out the tree and we would talk about their ancestors that were alive during the event, how it impacted their life, how they must have felt, etc. If I had pictures of them then I would pull those out too. My kids aced history because it was real to them, not just strangers and dates. Family Tree Maker now has a historical time line feature. They apparently stole my idea! I had to "map" out the Kilgores of the South Cumberland Plateau to keep them straight. There are so many with the same names and close years of birth. Anyway, I tried to work on the project a bit but my brain still isn't up to it. I'll try again in a few weeks. Cousin Dennie P.S. I don't expect comments on this. I am just ranting. I just wrote FOX News. Geraldo (in Galveston) and a woman reporter (in NY) referred to local citizens that stayed as idiots. My question is this. Why is it safe for reporters to be in mandatory evacuation areas and not OK for the local citizens? It is sending out the wrong message. People will die and the media are partially to blame. When I was a kid growing up on a barrier island, they told us to leave. If someone did not leave they were arrested and taken to the mainland. Once the evacuation was complete, the cops left too and raised the drawbridge on their way out. There was no looting. No one was risking their life to save someone too stupid to leave on their own.
