Yes, I had my mitochondrial DNA tested. The report was very interesting. I am from Halo group K, the ice immigrants. We are talking 50,000 years ago. They migrated from the Middle East to Europe. In The Seven Daughters of Eve, by Brian Sykes, he calls this group Katrine. Please don't tell me your family tree is 50,000 years in length. Have you found Adam and Eve yet? :-) Charles R. (Bob) Shaw 2425 Sherwin dr. Yes, the mitochondria is from the mother's side. My children's father's maternal grandmother was Frankie Ford. The maternal line through Frankie that we are looking for was in Tejas [Texas when under Spain, Mexico and independent]. The most distant one known from that line, Cynthia Christie, was clearly Indian. She was born about 1830 in the Sabine Parish area of LA [far western edge]. Her father was born in LA and her mother in TX. The tribe of that area is Choctaw/Apache. Christie and the other associated name of Procelle/Purcell are names found in the tribe even today. It is a large group of descendants but only two are eligible for the mitochondria link back to Cynthia, one man and one woman. No one seems to know the woman well but the man has agreed to the be tested. Cousin Dennie Charles Shaw wrote: > I guess the sale was off.
