I have the same problem as both of you. When I go to the site, I don't see #166612-maybe it hasn't been posted yet. Robert Lee -you're descended from William Kilgore of GA. It's looking like he was probably the b/o my ancestor Charles Kilgore born 1740 died 1823 Greene Co TN and that they were both probably sons of the Robert Kilgore listed on 1750 tax list NC. Your William shows up in 1751 along with Robert and it would appear that this means that William had turned 21 in 1751 making him born c1730. The 1858 letter to the Thompson Journals from Gabriel Lea Kilgore s/o Thomas Kilgore Jr. indicated that Thomas' father, Thomas had 3 brothers: William, Ralph & Charles which should mean my Charles, your William and that Ralph was indeed William's brother-which everyone has long suspected. No mention of Robert Kilgore (died 1782) and in the same area as Charles & William. Also Thomas Kilgore Sr.'s birth date must be messed up-he was believed to have died in Robertson Co TN in 1822 at the age of 110 which just doesn't add up to available data (scarce though it is). I suspect that he was in fact one of the males age 16-21 in the household of Robert Kilgore (Sr) on 1755 tax list Orange Co NC making him born c1734 or later which I think makes much better sense; however, I can't actually prove he was younger than his claim of 110 years. According to John's handy graph, it looks as though Jack's ancestor Thomas Kilgore of Cecil Co MD may have been an uncle of my Charles and so a b/o Robert Kilgore of 1750 tax list. The 1858 letter stated that the f/o Thomas, William, Ralph & Charles (who was not mentioned by name-except it probably wasn't Thomas) came to America from Ireland and settled 1st in MD or PA (the writer wasn't sure which) about 200 years ago (from 1858) making him arriving about 1658 which is a bit subjective. If Robert of 1750 tax list was the immigrant (along with Thomas of Cecil?) then he probably came as a young man in his early 20s or such. Making it more likely he arrived in early 1700's. If we presume ( I know I know don't presume) that William was the eldest child and that Robert was at least 21 when he was born (and likely closer to age 25) then that makes Robert born c1709 or earlier (likely 1700-1710). (I've often wondered if maybe Thomas Kilgore died 1822 hadn't confused his father's date of birth with his own-my grandmother firmly believed her parents were still living when she was 94 years old -she had dementia). Gail, didn't you state that there was some kind of belief that your Thomas of Cecil Co was the son of a John Kilgore? Where does that come from? Vickie
So then why doesn't Wallis show up to every one else... and then that makes me wonder how many more don't show up for every one to see. Gail
