I received this email from a friend. I asked her to look up the Kilgore surname in her books and this is what she came up with. Hope it helps. Re Kilgore MacLysaght in his Surnames of Ireland says of Kilgore: (Mac) Kilgore: The Irish form of the name of this NW Ulster family is probably Mac Giolla Gheairr, as Kilgar. Woulfe (a man who wrote the same kind of book during the 1800s) however, suggests Mac Giolla Ghairbh (garbh, rough) hence Kilgarriff also, which is conjectural. He gives this conjecturally also for Kilcourse. DdHober Civil War Resources
